Have tried many and found they had too many features or adjustments or were too “cute”.
I bought this one to speed processing items up but found its great for basic meal prep as well. 
It slices 2 thicknesses … quite thin and sort of thick plus some other stuff I really haven't tried.
I've used it for tomatoes, potatoes, onions, carrots, hard meat like pepperoni and salami, hard block cheeses … very fast … the hard cheese results was a pleasant surprise.
CAUTION: Be Careful!!! It is Designed to CUT/SLICE and WILL! Get your fingers tangled up in the cutters and You WILL Lose!

Best slicer were cuts very thin slices like I like

I lost my original Borner during a move after years of use and wanted to replace it. Very pleased that the new one now includes a storage 'capsule' so it can now stand up vertically on a shelf instead of taking up drawer space.  Terrific!

Truly new and improved!

This mandoline conveniently has its own stand and it's out on my counter top.  I use it all the time!  Easy to use, easy to wash up, easy to store.   And there are a lot of videos that teach the best ways to use it.  A great purchase all around.

Great addition to kitchen prep utensils

Wow it is really fast, just like the YouTube videos . Clean up is a breeze. I am happy with my purchase. It's a must for any kitchen.

Time Saver

I bought it 5 years back. Blades are still formidably sharp. Only the plastic shows wear and tear due to initial misuse. Cant do without it especially for onions and tomatoes. I cut them directly into frying pan. No initial prep required. 
Does not occupy more than few inches of storage space. Cleans easy. Though newer versions have arrived, this feature makes me buy the same version as gift to my friends.

Best every investment. 5yrs and still going good

I have had one of these slicers for 25 years at least!  It is wonderful! Still as sharp as the day I got it. This made a great gift! Be sure to use the safety handle. I love the fact it has the safety lock to protect the blades a the family.

I wanted to purchase this item after i saw a review on YouTube. It's easy to use and I get perfect size fruits and vegetables

its sharp and easy to use ,,a little tricky on long cuccumber carrots type cuts( flat) would buy again

Swissmar V-Slicer Plus Mandoline V 1001

Slicer V- blades were not sharp enough.  Apple slices got mushed and shredded.   The large julienne cut blades shredded the apples instead of French fry shapes.   I followed the online demo but not same results.  Very disappointing as really wanted to make homemade dried apple slices, etc.    Also thought capture/storage container came with mandolin.  My mistake as researched and thought bought the recommended the American Test Kitchen one
