I bought one and then immediately bought two more. These are BASIC and for this reason they are GOOD. There is no convoluted parts that are designed. It's so easy to open one handed and you get really good at it. No buttons, latches, etc. and it's metal, sturdy. And so easy to customize . Over time the latches springs break. Party due to little kids playing with them. That's one thing that could be improved. But proof that you don't want an over engineered design.

Great value I would purchase this again

This gate works fine. It's a bit complex to install but possible. I came across a weird issue where, even though my stairway was within the specified range, it actually didn't fit because it was too wide on one setting and too thin on another. I was able to fix it with a shim, but I had to do more handiwork than I imagined

Bottom latch stays latched … what a silly design.

Silly design

Very poor design. Bottom and top do not latch together. Kids think they have closed it properly but they haven't - when baby pushes on it, it can pop open. Do not mount at the top of the stairs. Also slides side to side, when not locked. It is a lot of work readjusting all the time - constantly checking it!

Do not recommend

This product does not indicate that it cannot work with baseboards. Simply, to be able to fit with baseboards, the bottom screw to latch on the unhinge side would need to screw in all the way, but it gets "stuck" midway and won't go in. Therefore, when we try to close the gate, the bottom latch screw hits the baseboard and cannot close all the way.

Does not fit to stair width without big gap

Put it together for our newborns room. Was a challenge to build in the first place due to horrible build quality. Once I had it together, I closed it, it latched great. But it refused to unlatch without me manually pressing the bottom spring down. We have a similar gate I've installed before. Works the same way this one is supposed to. On this, the top hinge is supposed to have some flex so the latch end can lift. But it's fixed. This should be recalled and fixed. Wasted time and energy on a product that was designed to fail. Don't waste money on this product.

Built to fail

This gate came with very cheap screws that stripped upon first use. No plugs for the drywall, and it isn't as if we can just find a stud to install it as it has to be at the top of the stairs. The piece that is supposed to go in to stop the gate from swinging one direction is completely defective. It doesn't even fit in to the bracket it is suppose to.   On top of all that, once we finally did get the gate installed, it is difficult to open and close. The bottom latch doesn't always fit in right when closing it and it's really a two hand job (difficult when you're also lugging around a baby).   Very disappointed in this gate.

Hard to install, cheap quality, difficult to use

I have gone through 2 of these gates in the past year the latch keeps breaking in the same place.

I would never buy this again

Hard to install, doesn't work with baseboards, manual download doesn't work.
