Purchased the Bissell 1664a online for my parents - they wanted to replace an older Bissell model with something similar. Many compact, bagless cleaners are too heavy and clumbersome for elderly people - the Bissell 1664a bagless cleaner is compact, light and easy to use.

I have had absolutely NO problems with the little vac. It has soooo much power and is just a light, little thing! Other reviewers said hose wouldn't stay on. As soon as a I realized it had a little notch on it there was no problem. Stayed in. Probably the only thing I don't like is having a canister to empty. It's a little messy . I think I would have preferred a bag. Also, my old vac pieces are interchangeable which is a good thing.

This is a great vacuum. My house is all tile and no vacuum got everything like this one does. Plus I use attachments a lot and with this vacuum everything is already attached but the very bottom piece. Also its very light and easy to carry if you need to and easy to pull around. If you are thinking about this vacuum, get it!

Love this vacuum

This vacuum is what I've been looking for, for a long time. It's compact, powerful and most of all easy to put away which makes it the ideal vacuum for work since I use Metro and don't drive. I can carry this bad boy on a small shuffle and you wouldn't know it.  My only problem with this is that the extension wands are made of cheaply made plastic. It feels like it is going to pop in my hands every time I use it. With the suction power this bad girl packs I really think the extension wands should be more sturdy, made of steal or if plastic, a more heavy-duty sturdy plastic . Overall I recommend it to everyone....its definitely one of the best vacuums I've ever had or come across.

Amazing yet a little disappointing

Best cost and value vacuum cleaner on Canadian market we could find.

Very Good

This is a lite weight, small yet powerful suction machine.  So far I really like it & am happy with my purchase & especially the price.  It is great value in my opinion.  If I had to suggest  anything to make it better it would be to have a longer hose & a way that it locks into place as this one disconnects too easily.  I would recommend to others however.

Great little machine

This is my second one. I bout the first one for my cottage and it works really good. Lots of suction for such a small machine. The only issue I see is the connection of the main hose to the machine. The twist on connection has a tendency to twist off it you twist the hose much as you are using it. Other wise, it would be a 5. The second one is for my camper.

Very handy

I'm middle aged and have owned many vacuum cleaners throughout my lifetime.  I've always preferred canister vacuum cleaners for hard floors and uprights with beater brushes for carpet.  This unit has many features that are pluses and just a couple minuses.  First of all, it has plenty of suction for such a small unit.  The bagless system is easy to empty with a bottom flap that opens to drop the accumulated dirt into a trash bin, and has a single easy to operate latch to hold the canister in place.  It's light enough to carry around for mobility.  The retractable cord has a yellow band to let you know when you've pulled out almost the entire length, and a red one to tell you when to stop pulling.  However, as this is a budget unit, some corners were cut, and in my book, only warrant dropping 1 star, as price was important to me.  The wand is put together using friction without any latches, so when pulling the cleaning head over carpet, the wand can come apart.  It also bends easily, so I really recommend this for hard floors only.  The combination crevice/brush tool has no on-unit storage, so you need to keep it somewhere else, and it might be misplaced.  Overall, I am pleased with this vacuum, and think you might be as well.

LOTS OF POWER IN A SMALL UNIT

This vacuum cleaner is very good for small surfaces (hardwood floors and carpets as well). It is easy to use and easy to carry because of its weight, the canister is easy to clean. Two issues bother me: the tube is made of soft plastic, so it bends quite easily and makes me worry when I will break it if I push to hard. The other issue: during use, the tube comes out of the slot every minute, so I had to wrap some tape around it.
Besides that, I love this vacuum cleaner and will continue to use it in our apartment, however I will definitely need a new one if we move to a bigger house.

Perfect for small surfaces

The vacuum is very good.  I used one in a cleaning job and loved it, bought one for my Gran, and just bought one for myself.  They aren't meant for people with a lot of carpet floors though.  They're perfect for people with some rugs and hard floors.  The brush on the head is nearly useless when you have a shedding pet though.  It quickly gets clogged, but isn't too hard to pull the hair out of.  The cord could do with being a few inches longer, as it doesn't quite reach everywhere in the hallway.  The tube twists annoyingly, but I'm not sure there's anything that can be done for that and every vacuum like this does that.  The tube is long enough and the head narrow enough it fits all the way under the beds and other awkward spots to vacuum.  The cons aren't anything that is going to stop me from buying a replacement when these die.

Good except the brush at the end and the tubee

I used this vacuum on my area rugs, carpet, laminate floors.  It has strong suction power - too strong for the area rugs - gobbled them up.  For the carpet - no good.  Unable to run the vacuum over carpet without struggling.  It's definitely not for carpets.  On the laminate floors it does not run as smoothly as I expected and I have to lift the vacuum over the particles for it to suck them up.  Cumbersome for storage.  It depressed me that I did not enjoy this purchase which I had looked forward to.

So Disappointed - but can't bother to return it to
