With these hot summer days, my home air conditioning needs a little assistance, so it's not running all day and I can focus some cooling in my kitchen when I have to cook for my family. I love the way that it can be easily moved from room to room and packed up in the fall until next season.

the black and decker 6000btu portable a/c unit is a quality product. 50lbs and on wheels, the unit is substantial. i have a 170sf bedroom that is not connected to my central air. in vegas, you need a/c in summer, and this unit works well. highly recommend.

just what i needed.

Arrived on time and the warehouse pick up attendant brought it out right away.  

Waited 24 hours to settle and plugged in.  Cooled my two bedroom apartment off quit nicely and quickly.  So far it has been all I could have wished for.

Great little unit

I have the unit in an upstairs bedroom and use the unit at night. While the cooling part works fine I think the dehumidifier works better for me because I live in a humid climate. It makes a big difference.

Its a 4 star machine. It works as it should, but during a heat wave - 35° - the machine struggled to cool a single bedroom. I got it at half price so no complaints for the money. Lots of great features. Not any quieter or noisier then any other machine. Does the job for me, happy with the purchase. Shiped to my door by FedEx.

Great buy on sale

Have two of these, a 5000 and a 6000 btu units. The 5000 unit is in a small study, about 160 sq ft. It keeps the temperature about 6-8 degrees below the main house. This is sufficient to keep thing comfortable:  on 100 degree days the study stays at around 78. 

The 6000 btu unit is in the small bedroom around 150 sq ft. It will cool the room to about 15 degrees below the main house:  it dips to 65 degrees before bed time so very comfortable 

Noise wise, both are ok, average for such appliances. There are quieter units but they are more expensive. As I only need cooling a few days a year, these are good enough

Does the job ok

Although this item works well and isn't noisy running, it makes a buzzing sound that's very annoying.  This sound comes after the a/c cools (which it does well), the fan blows out the remaining cool air and then the buzzing starts.  I have no idea if this is the way it's supposed to work or not and contacting the seller was pointless and contacting Black %26 Decker was impossible.  As well, the instructions are vague though I did get it installed properly, I had to purchase a roll of adhesive foam to really seal it properly.  The foam that comes with it is ridiculous.  The final thing that I've tried to get help with is the exhaust hose, which has a very open grid on the end going out of the window kit opening.  Clearly, both insects/animals and rain can come into it.  What is there to prevent this and is this how it's supposed to be.  I will keep this but hope that either the seller or B%26D will be more responsive.

Cools well, but no help on operation received

The unit looked fine but it's window seal panel was so poorly done!! You'd have to put in some extra work to make it good.

Opened and realized it was not worth it

This air conditioner worked well the first few times we used it. We bought it at the end of the season and then stored it for most of the  year. We pulled it out again and used it maybe 10 times before all it would do is blow cool air. We think the condenser quit working. The warranty was up by only one week so now we're stuck with a super expensive fan.

Quit working after one year and one week

I am really disappointed with the product with today's heat it was a good test for the air conditioner even lowering the temperature to max it has trouble cooling a small room if I could put less than a star I would have put it
