Good sturdy machine does exactly what it supposed to do. It keeps the coffee warm, but you do have to heat up the carafe ahead of time if you want to coffee to stay very hot. This negates the timer that is built-in, we find the coffee hot enough without warming up the carafe ahead of time.

It makes just an okay cup of coffee but I was disappointed there was no beep when the brewing cycle was done and it also takes longer to brew then my other similar priced coffee maker.  The thermal carafe is nice though I found the temperature drops pretty quickly even with pre-heating the carafe.

this coffee maker is easy to use and with the thermal carafe, the brewed coffee stays at a warmer temperature longer.  I do find that this model does not brew the coffee at a high enough temperature, hence the 3 stars
