I am returning this. The concept is great but its performance is sub-zero for me. I bought this without a stylus and maybe it really is meant to work with one.

It was meant to replace an aging Kindle Paperwhite. I liked this e-reader and am happy with the Kindle Store. I am a Kindle Unlimited subscriber. Yet with a replacement looming, I looked at alternatives. 

I locked into the Onyx Go 7 Boox for a couple of reasons. It would give me a chance to break out of a Kindle-only universe. Boox is an open architecture. So, I knew going in I could still access my Kindle library by downloading the Kindle app from the Google Playstore, but being an open architecture, I knew I would be able to try other things too.

I really have no interest in taking notes or writing stuff in the tablet which is why I opted out of buying its stylus.

The problem is the capacitive touch screen just isn't responsive enough to my finger presses. It really seems to beg for a pencil-thingy to work properly.

I've only had it barely a week. I downloaded the latest firmware update and things really went downhill. The unit would freeze. It was non-responsive and I even had difficulty turning it off.

So back you go.
