I bought this to compliment my impact impact driver, as I found a great deal and it was worth it to get the battery. However, I can't recommend the tool as it does not provide torque as advertised. My older Bosch impact driver, with a lower rated torque, was more successful in a recent automotive project, at taking bolts off. My final test - though not entirely scientific - was to apply maximum torque to install my lug nuts on my car. Removal had not been possible with this driver, but was with my "weaker" driver. The outcome was the same - I achieved around 60 ft-lbs. That's about 720 in-lbs to the advertised 1600 in-lbs. My methodology was to, after applying maximum torque with this driver, increment my torque wrench until it could move the lug nuts.

I was honestly very disappointed as this tool has me questioning my loyalty to Bosch tools. With battery systems all proprietary, we often set out with one company and stick with them. My trust in Bosch has been compromised with this tool and I whole heartedly wish I wasn't considering a break up, though it's the honest truth. 

I'm looking at getting a cordless impact wrench to replace an aging off brand corded model I inherited, and I had hoped this tool was going to be a stop gap, recognizing it would mean pulling out the breaker bar more often. Unfortunately, I'm being skeptical of the options offered from Bosch, which is a frustrating place to be as a loyal customer.

Severely underpowered.

I like how you can add quickly seitch hex bits to sockets. This comes in handy for little jobs around the house and vehicles. 

However, it honestly should be recalled. It is blatant false advertising that this will drive anywhere near 1,600 in.lb
I of course tried it on the lug nuts of my small toyota that are torque down to 80 ft.lb of torque, which is well under the 1,600 in/lbs this tool is supposed to do. 1,600 in/lb is converted to 133.33 ft/lbs. These will turn them to hand tight, that's all. Very weak. Could be handy for some applications, but don't waste your money on this.

Quite weak, a little handy

I got this in a combo kit. I charged the battery and went to use the tool the next day. I had several good sized 3” deck screws that I needed to sink. This driver was very slow to sink the screws in and couldn't do much more than snug them down. After putting in several screws, I thought the lack of power might be in my mind, so I grabbed my Bosch 12v max driver that maxes at a bit over 900 inch pounds and that was able to sink the same screws faster and further into the wood… I next grabbed my cheap orange driver that's rated at a bit over 1400 inch pounds and that out performed them both (was expected with the 12v). I own both 12v max bosch drivers and have been very impressed with them, this is why I wanted the 18v Bosch set. I saw a number of reviews and tests stating that it lacked power and wasn't putting nearly the 1600 inch pounds that was advertised. I chose to ignore these, but in my experience they were right. I would guess the tool puts out somewhere around 800 inch pounds. A highly popular and well regarded YouTuber that tests torque on all brands found the same…. Very disappointed with the tool. Looks like they have a new more powerful version out that might be better, but I'm not sure if I want to waste my time and money to find out.

About half the torque advertised…

Bought this set on sale for a great deal. I bought it to save time and convenience taking off lug nuts on my car that are Torque at 100 foot pounds. I thought this would be a great idea instead of pulling out my air compressor.So  I checked the rating before I bought and the rating was at much higher specifications so I thought I was good. This thing is weak. I could almost tighten Bolts tighter with a mini socket wrench. I have other Bosch, power tools, and a dishwasher and I love them. So this really hurt.

Expected much more from a brand name

I bought the tool 2 weeks ago and the a pex is broken. I'm a home improvement contractor, I have a lot of bosch tools. This one was a disappointment

This tool will not produce anything near 1600 inch/lbs. At most you will get 600. Bosch have sent me two different tools and both had the exact same issue. This issue is well known online. Do not purchase this tool.

Underpowered

Pretty much what everyone else says: weak. Very weak. Like barefly 30 ft lbs of torque.

Weakest Impact Driver Ever. Ever.

I had previously bought a kit with the 25618 impact driver and drill combo, so i was invested in bosch ecosystem. I needed something that could take 1/4 sockets for wheel lug nuts, mower blade bolts, etc. In short, this doesn't make any real torque. This driver has choked on every single task i've asked from it. Anything this GDX18V-1600 can do, the 25618 could also do.

 I think the 25618, which is rated less at 1500 in-lbs actually out torques this one rated at 1600 in-lbs in practice. See the Torque Test Channel video on the different gen bosch "freak" impact drivers/wrench combos. This model barely makes any torque on their test fixture, and it reflects my actual usage that this tool is worthless for any job using a socket. 

As a driver, it will work fine driving fasteners, but the 25618 is a better performer with more rapid hits per second. My recommendation is to skip the GDX18V-1600 and get a true mid or high torque impact wrench if you need to use this on anything requiring a socket. If you just want a 1/4 impact driver, bosch makes better. 

Recently acquired the GDX18V 740N which is an actual 1/2 impact wrench that brings the beans, and even on the lowest setting it will crush some of those jobs that the GDX18-1600 choked on.

I do use the bag, battery, and charger with my other 18V bosch tools, so that was definitely a bonus!

Skip this one

Don't buy it. It is the worst tool I have in my garage. It is worthless to change any tires and barely drive a screw in. It was a present from a family member. Once I realised how bad it was, I've tried to change it, I was ready to pay the difference to get something better from bosch but it was not possible. Go take a look at Torque test channel on youtube. It was the worst tool they tested. I was always told that Bosch had high standard, but they dropped the ball on this one. 
All of my cordless equipment is from bosch, they usually have really good stuff. Just go with something better from bosch.
