I am new at embroidery I read reviews before my purchase about not getting a 4x4 hoop and spend the money for the 5x7 so I did. It was a great choice. Downloads are very easy using a USB Zip drive for the .pes files straight to the machine. Easy to use. Even my teenage daughter plays with it. Be careful it's addicting. I love it. I haven't tried appliqué yet that's my next project. FYI you tube videos are a great help.

Great machine

I have two Viking sewing/embroidery machines and bought this one as a back up when I thought one was damaged beyond repair. Like having an embroidery only machine as I don't have to adjust the tensions so much. The Brother PE770 is not as fast as the other two but fast enough and has a generous 5X7 embroidery field. Have seen nothing but good reviews for this machine.

Great inexpensive embroidery machine

I have been using my machine for hours at a time day after day. It's a great work horse and value for the money. It's easy and quick to set up. I bought the Brother PED Basic to transfer designs from computer to card, I haven't tried using the USB port on this machine. I also love that you can save designs on this machine. Other great features are that it alerts you when bobbin thread and spool threads are running out.

Great workhorse

This but is my first embroidery machine so I have nothing to compare it to I love it. It is simple to use, I was able to embroider my first design within ten minutes of taking it out of the box, I did read the manual prior to unpacking it. I have only had the machine one week and the only difficulty I have had is the self threader, have not been able to figure it out yet.

Love it

After researching for quite a while I purchased this machine, seemed to be the most bang for my buck, I have ran it for a few days, it was very simple to get started and is very simple to run! I really like it! Just what I expected, great beginner piece!

Great ! Love it!~

I had the machine up and running within 30-minutes! It is SO easy to use! The machine basically works itself. Easy threading - in fact - has an automatic threader which is a plus for me! I love the fact that I can download a design onto my USB Drive and pop it in the machine. I don't have to have a computer right next to it which is great! Hooping definitely takes practice - and I did end up purchasing a smaller 4x4 hoop just for smaller areas/items that I wanted to embroider such as collars, cuffs, ribbons, etc. The machine comes with the 5x7 hoop and I think it is the perfect size for just about anything! I even monogrammed a duffle bag!

I did buy Sulky Embroidery Thread because I had read it was the best. I have not experienced any breaks or problems with the thread so far. It looks really nice too even though it is a little more expensive. I am still learning about stabilizers but I did purchase a light weight cut away, a medium weight cut away, and a water soluble stabilizer just to experiment

The only thing I would add - is at least a software program to create monograms and edit designs. Yes, there are software programs out there but as a newbie, it has been overwhelming trying all the demos and then trying to decide. Plus they are ALL expensive! I feel that Brother could at least offer one with this machine - it doesn't have to be a Professional software - just one that would allow the creating and editing.

I am a mother of 3 and I am a beginner -- this is my first embroidery machine and I did alot of research before deciding on this one.

More than I expected...AWESOME!!

This machine is exactly what I have been looking for. I have an older embroidery machine (bernette deco 600) and I wanted something a big larger. I did a lot of research before buying this. I looked at dealers, and online both. There is another machine which is the PE 780 that is basically the same machine at twice the price, but for a good reason. It features many licensed Disney designs. Those designs are available to be purchased online separately from a different company. After adding up the cost for those Disney designs, I realized that it doubles the price of the machine. Disney is not something I wanted, and I would not use them, as I was looking for something to embroider my own artwork. I found an online software that would work with my new PE770. All I have to do is download the pattern to the USB stick, and insert the stick into the port, and the machine will stitch them. IT is GREAT! This machine is easy to use, has a great auto threader on the needle, and has many features that allow you to re-size and position the design where you want it. This machine is ONLY available online, and the Disney version is only available from a dealer. Walmart's "ship to store" option made it easy to pick up with no hassles. My product was ordered, and I was notified it was ready for pick-up about a week later. I would definitely recommend this machine to others.

great Machine for the price.

I originally ordered the pe 400 and returned it as it only had a 4x4 hoop!! I am so glad I got this machine the PE 770 that has the 5x7 hoop it works like a dream!! I have been appliqueing and monograming like crazy!! Love it!! And walmarts sale price was unreal!!

Wonderful machine for all!!

We bought this for our 15 year old daughter as a Christmas gift, well we are all using it. It was simple and we were using it within minutes of opening the box. It is so much fun and most of the Christmas towels were decorating before the end of the day.
My only recommendation is that it should come with a program for converting files to PES format rather than needing to purchase the program.
Overall this was a perfect buy for the family. We love it!!

Awesome Machine

I have never sewed or done anything with a machine before in my life. I recently had a baby girl and seeing all the cute appliqued and embroidered clothing for so expensive made me want to get a machine and try to make some things myself. I have played around on it quite a bit so far and love how easy it is. The only negative thing is they don't tell you that you have to get a brother brand usb card to import images. I tried other brands of usb cards and none worked.

Arrived quickly..no hassle pick-up from Walmart. Pretty simple start-up but nothing but bird nests underneath no matter what I tried. Broke a needle and could not loosen the screw to put in a new needle. My very strong gentleman neighbor tried and still could not get the screw out to replace the needle...gave up am sending it back. If I try another one I will let you know.

Very disappointed.
