My grandson uses this in school due to his brain disorder. He can finally after 6 years write his own name with his penagain!  He loves it. He is non-verbal and he loves that he can write by himself or with little help! Thank you!

Best pencil for the disabled

My daughter started using these pencils in preschool and she calls them "rocket pencils" because they kind of look like a little rocket ship. I think they are also called wishbone pencils. Her handwriting is remarkably legible for a 5 yr. old when she uses these pencils as opposed to a regular one. They are designed to help teach a child how to comfortably and properly hold a writing utensil and they have done wonders for my child. She used to get frustrated and "give up" trying to write with regular pencils so using these instead has boosted her confidence and given her the desire to write more. They were a little hard to twist open at first and I thought they were defective, but I think they are designed that way as a safety precaution because the pencil leads are very sharp when they are first used. It's also nice not to have to sharpen pencils since these twist up to expose the lead. I'm not sure how long they will last but refills can be purchased separately which will probably be the next thing I order. Love Walmart and Ship-to-Store for free option. They beat everyone else's prices!

Great pencils that help learning to write

After I had my stroke I couldn't write any thing cuz I am right handed. I saw this and decided to try it. I use it left handed and I can write again.

Awesome Prduct

My son is in Kindergarden and beens having difficulties learning to hold a pencil comfortably in order to write. His teacher recommended this pencil and its amazing. He is comfortable and eventually he will learn how to hold the wooden pencils. He complete his assignments much faster and with ease with those pencils.

Great Pencil for Children Learning to Write

I work as a school based Occupational therapist and this is one of our main products to use with students of all needs. It not only helps with giving them the proper tripod grasp feel, but increases there confidence while learning to print. It is easy to hold and helps increase the legibility of the students printing. We use this pencil for kids of all needs including downs syndrome, autistic, learning disabilities and even with kids that have no disabilities but have difficulty with printing or grasping a pencil correctly. The only down fall with this product is that it runs out of lead quickly AND it takes 2 mm lead which is not easy to find. Overall though, I HIGHLY recommend this product.

Works great to help my son learn how to correctly

My child's preschool teacher said I needed to work on my child holding their pencil/crayons/markers etc correctly, so I was trying to find something that would aid in that. This pencil helps with that. I've noticed since they've been using it, there has been a really good improvement of handling pencils, crayons, etc. The criticism I have about it is it broke really easily. I wasn't quite sure why.

Good for teaching 4yr how to correctly hold pencil

I purchased this set to help one of my students correct her pencil grip. The wishbone shape allowed her a great grip. Unfortunately, within the first day, the lead broke inside the pencil and somehow the mechanism to advance the lead became twisted, (plastic inside). The second pencil is working fine for now but I have had a hard time locating a store that sells refills for the size lead required. There is only one lead provided for each pencil. The pencil is a great idea that helps some correct their grip. I wish it was constructed better and that I could find lead refills so It can be used longer.

Great idea but malfunctions easily

This Twist N Write Pencil breaks easily. Only a few leads in it, and that breaks before you use them all. It does keep the hand in the right position, and my grandson printing improved. Trouble is he went through 2 in a week and he wasn't being hard on them.
