Dead or brown patches in the turf? Turf that easily lifts up and peels back, revealing sorry-looking roots or none at all? Dig-holes caused by skunks or raccoons? The culprit is most likely grubs. Stop grubs by applying Scotts Grub B Gon MAX Grub Killer, then watering-in to a depth of about 1.25 cm. When applied as directed, the active ingredient – a live, soil-borne organism – is released down into the soil and root zone where grubs live. As grubs eat plant roots, they also ingest the active ingredient, effectively putting a stop to them and their destruction. Controls a variety of beetle grubs, including June beetles and chafers.

Hello. I need more time on the application of the product. On the night of May 26-27, beetles came out of the ground because there are hundreds of dry chrysalis on the grass. Photo to support as needed. Right now, my lawn is green and bushy. When do you recommend applying the grub? I haven't applied any yet. Thanks.

I'm usually a huge fan of Scott's products.  This one has been challenging to say the least.  First, multiple visits to multiple Canadian Tire stores only to find stale dated product as it has a 17 month shelf life - first store had 6 bags, newest was June 2021. Second store had 8+ bags April 2021 or older, then a bunch without a clear date code.  Since the staff member said they had just got some per their system, I am gambling on a dust free bag with a 020356/BG/3G code.  Even Google doesn't know how to translate that. 

Next - the bag doesn't have an application setting for my Scott's Drop spreader.  Again, Google and Scott's website have been unable to translate.  Going to guess at using the ratio and some math by looking at a Scott's fertilizer bag I have.

(This review was collected as part of a promotion.) I applied the product as the instructions said. It didn't work so I bought another bag to apply. Grubs are not gone, skunks still around, grass looks terrible. Disappointed as I've usually had success with Scott's products.

Doesn't really work as advertised

We live in a rural area, but have put a great amount of time, effort, and money into establishing and maintaining a large, weed free lawn. A number of years ago  (4-5), we purchased this product to deal with an infestation of white grubs which was wiping out our lawn. We raked up dead grass, over-seeded and re-seeded, fertilized (with Scotts products), and kept up the whole process, desperately trying to win the fight. We applied Grub B Gon spring and fall, as directed, purchasing the product at the time of application (foolishly trusting it would be "fresh"). My husband had purchased and applied the product, and did not realize at the time that the shelf life was only 17 months. I used to work in garden center and had my doubts about the viability of the product when our grub problem continued year over year (about 24+ grubs per square foot of ground and MORE!). In the past we had used nematodes, but it was not really feasible to continue this practice given the size of our lawn. I read the packaging more thoroughly this year to see that it must be used within 17 months of manufacture, and stored above 4 degrees C. I visited three stores in two towns near to us last night, and not one store had a package that was in the viable range since date of manufacture, and one confirmed that the product, along with other gardening supplies, was stored in their building's "addition" over winter, where it was unheated and would have frozen, and where temperatures climb much higher than 25C in the summer months, likely killing any of the bacilli in the product. Most also had manufacture dates of 2020 or 2021. Buyer be ware! It seems retailers need more education about product handling. Perhaps with these items of higher price and shorter shelf life, Scotts could offer stores a credit to restock so the consumer isn't left disappointed with an acre of dead grass and soil full of grubs, not to mention the damage caused by the skunks and raccoons who dig up the lawn to eat the grubs. We've spent thousands of dollars on Scotts products, and this is the first time we've been truly disappointed. Having spent hundreds of dollars on Grub B Gon alone in the last four to five years and finding our lawn dead and full of grubs (still) after this spring's thaw is tremendously disappointing.  CONSUMERS: Check the date of manufacture before you buy and apply, or you will discover you've wasted your money and time.

DIFFICULT TO FIND VIABLE PRODUCT

I've used Scott's Grub B Gon with success for many years even though it's expensive. In 2023 it didn't work for the first time and I determined the reason is the past due expiry date? How can I buy product that hasn't  got a past due expiry date? My lawn was a mess with more skunk and raccoon damage than ever? Please advise me? I'm from Ontario Canada!

Applied 2 applications of grub be gone this year. One in mid June and the other in early September. I think that I'm feeding the grubs. My neighbour doesn't do anything to his lawn and it looks like a normal lawn. I really like the Scott's fertilizer though. Nice green healthy grass until the skunks get at it. I applied grub be gone once last year in September 2022. Been using your fertilizer for 3 years running, 3 applications per year. Wondering if fertilizer might be feeding the grubs?? Purchased everything at neighborhood Home Depot. Any ideas??

You your retailers (partners ) for the most part sell product produced over 17 months in my area  . who is responsible to rotate product in retail partners businesses. It states on packaging   recommendation : product should be applied  within 17 month of manufacture I believe ?l .I've been to multiple stores and product on shelf is  over 17 months . This product does not work on my lawn . Could only find product on shelf  with production over17 months  Skunks are having a field day tearing up my lawn .

I purchased this product last spring 2023 , applied it like mentioned in Scott's website..
This year, I have holes on my lawn, done by skunks and other animals digging for the worms in my lawn..and it's the second product that doesn't do what it promised.. I purchased grass seeds and again applied it like mentioned in the website..
Another product that didn't work and since I didn't have my receipt for the purchase of grub I can't get it refunded..

2 products that didn't work

I applied this product in the spring, summer and fall of 2022 as per instructions. There is no improvement in my small lawn. As a matter of fact it looks very ugly. I suspect this product may have been stored in unheated conditions and has been frozen prior to purchase. Has freezing perhaps rendered this product ineffective?  Please advise.

Old products and if you can find a recent bag, it still doesn't work. This was the third year of using this and hoping it would work, but the grubs are as bad as ever. Three applications a year for three years and my lawn is gone. Dead grass and what did grow is now easily rolled up to expose hundreds of grubs. Wasted money and wasted time. I do not recommend Grub B Gon at all. I do like Scotts other lawn products, but now not having any lawn left - I wont be buying those either.

Useless product.

Two years ago, we had grubs absolutely destroy our front and backyards even after a professional spray was applied by a lawn company. We had to sod both yards which was incredibly time consuming and expensive. Since then, we've been using Grub-B-Gon and have had perfect results every time!

We follow all directions and the schedule posted on this product page and apply 3 times a year. We are very careful not to apply more than the recommended dose and make sure our lawn receives adequate water throughout the season. Grubs run rampant in our neighbourhood and someone on our street loses a lawn every year. Last year, our direct neighbour lost his entire backyard and ours was perfectly fine! We are so thankful for this product!
