We bought this at the store, and then ordered the caterpillars (i already knew we had to pay for this, so no surprise for me, no biggie $6.95 for 6 caterpillars). They came super fast, and now we are watching the grow. They are now latching to the top to form the cocoon,  So cool!
I gave one to my nephew and he is loving it too.

Haven't been able to use yet, but seems well made and has to be better than a plastic container with holes poked in it.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I was disappointed that this product didn't come with any information on how to obtain larva.

This container is only meant to hold butterflies.....not as a habitat to raise the caterpillars into butterflies.   I didn't realize that,so had to return it.  The top is held in place with just a Velcro tab that allows the caterpillars to escape.  I am raising monarch butterflies,so this did not work

I read all the reviews and thought "Why send off for the little critters when you can go right in a field or the side of the road that has milkweed plants and look?!?!" Now I just made a home but the kids want a home that is a bit better and helpful to them. We went out with a friend and went out to look for them and found a bunch. Why pay money for caterpillars when looking for them with your kids is so much more fun.

Just an FYI

Please keep in mind that this price only includes the habitat and a badge. The outside of the box leads you to believe that you receive a coupon for the caterpillars which you would assume would be free since you are paying so much for a nylon net. To actually get the caterpillars or larvae, you must pay an additional $6.47 (the coupon included in the box stated they would be $5 - also untrue). Reading the website where you purchase the larvae, many caterpillars arrived dead, so I am hopeful that my child isn't completely disappointed by this gift.

Price only include habitat

1st off after waiting for this to come in the mail you then have to send an extra 5 dollars in to receive caterpillars. Its say's it takes 3 wks and Im now on wk four with no caterpillars. I bought this 4 a class project for my son's daycare. So much for that because it has taken so long they have already had caterpillar wk. After googling i finally found a number for customer service a guy answered the phone. I asked if I had the wrong number because he answered the phone by saying this is Andrew! Really? A little unprofessional for a business. I asked Andrew why I hadn't received anything and he said "did you send your check to a cali. address? I dont know why but people have been getting their checks returned. But I can send you butterflies at a charge." Yea, right! I'm returning this! And ordering the other habitat offered by walmart which includes free caterpillars for the same price! I tried to order that one in the first place and accidentally got stuck with this one. ( 1st review I've ever wrote just because Im that mad!)

Do NOT BUY THIS!

We paid $6.49 for the life caterpillars from Ribbits Galore, they ship them in a plastic cup with food and the food comes loose during shipment and rolls the caterpillars to mush. They shipped them a second time, same thing. Now they're not answering our emails.

DO NOT BUY THIS PRODUCT. The product used to come with a coupon for butterfly larvae; however, Alex toys does not honor those coupons despite the fact that they sell the butterfly habitat. You can end up with a butterfly habitat and no butterflies. When I contacted the company for assistance, they basically said it was not their problem.
