I received a pressure canner for Christmas and needed these to can some apples. Bought them on sale and just couldn't be happier with them. Great Ball quality and wonderful value. I highly recommend them. The wide mouth makes them much easier to pack and stack. I highly recommend these.

4 stars due to price. There’s no reason whatsoever for canning jars to cost as much as they do. Nice enough jars, I use them for storage for different pantry items as well as canning. I’ve even frozen my homemade broth in them from time to time.

Beautiful jars! I love these because they have multiple purposes, I use them as normal drinking cups but if I need to storage something they’re also useful for that!

Multipurpose

Ball is a household name brand . The quality can’t be beat . .  There are less expensive jar out there.. but lack the everlasting quality that ball Manson jar.  I canned 3 cases of tomatoes and only one did not seal .. that was my fault. I’d buy them again .

Mason jar

Not the quantity of years past, but you can still depend on Ball for jars and lids that consistently seal well with a water bath. Save the box to store your jam if you plan on giving them as gifts. I also bought the  Ball water bath canner,  which i highly recommend. No more stove watching, and it even sterilizes the jars.

Dependable Ball Jars

I’ve been buying these Ball 16 oz wide‑mouth mason jars for the past few years and use them mainly for canning whole figs and fig preserves. Every jar sealed properly when using a water bath canning method. I also like that the set includes a storage box for the jars—it makes organizing easier and protects the jars when they’re not in use.

Tips %26 Notes
- Because these are wide‑mouth jars, they’re ideal for larger pieces of fruit (like whole figs) or preserves that you want to get in and out of easily. 
- Clean the jars thoroughly, pre‑heat them to the proper temperature (per your canning method), and ensure lids and bands are in good shape—this helps ensure a good seal.
- Use it will a jar funnel to make it easier to keep the jar rim clean.  Wipe the jar rim clean with a dish towel before placing a lid on it.  This will help ensure a better seal with the wax on the lid.
- After processing, check that each lid is concave (a sign of vacuum seal) and store upright in a cool, dark place.
- The included box is a nice bonus: it helps protect jars from breaking and keeps them stacked neatly.
-As a suggestion: number or label the jars with the date and contents—figs will taste best if used within a year or so.
-Because glass is breakable, handle with care when filling, transporting, and storing.
-If you’re doing frequent batches, consider buying extra lids and bands so you don’t reuse old ones beyond recommended limits.
-When working with whole fruit preserves, leave appropriate headspace (usually about ½‑inch for pints) to allow for expansion and heat penetration.

Great for Canning Figs

I tried the generic brand and the jars are great but the lids are a sturdy metal and they bend under pressure but the Balls are very stable so I just stay with them, I canned all sorts of vegetables and then venison and everything comes out perfect.

I read these jars were good for storing strawberries in the freezer.  I am trying to eat more fresh fruit and vegetables, so I’m storing some June and July berries for Christmas desserts!  They’re even stackable!

These Ball Mason Jars are the only true canning jars. I can at 10 years old with my grandma. I canned with my wife for for 20 years. We've started canning again due to high food prices. 
I want thank Walmart for knowing what items the people Need not Want and keep prices as affordable as possible. 
Canning is the best way to stay ahead of inflation. I highly recommend these Ball Jars.

They’re usually out of stock which speaks for itself. Love the wide lids, this is a great value for the money.

The majority of the jars were shattered when they arrived. When I tried to pack it up for a return, the glass was poking out of the box and cut me. I did not ship the box because I thought it was dangerous for other people. It really was a hazard I can’t believe they delivered it to my house.
