Not sure if this is normal for these type of jars, but several of mine have "dents" or ripples in the glass and what appear to be air bubbles. I'm worried about using them for canning. The seams where the top mounts to the sides of the jars are off too. None of my other Ball jars have anything that looks like these.

Really, I cannot believe that I am giving a"POOR" review of these Ball Mason Jars! I rely on Ball for jars for preserving my food, jams, jellies, fruits and vegetables.  However, I purchased these jars at Walmart expecting to take home a 12 count of 16 oz. jars. 
THEY DO NOT HOLD 16 OUNCES of product! They only hold about 12 ounces if I leave no headroom. This is an unexpected turn of events. These jars are defective. BE WARNED!!

12 oz Short Pints

Ball canning Jars - 8.98 from walmart on line - 37.98 on Amazon, identical jars....Excellent purchase when all other stores do not have inventory.

This product is rarely available at our local Wal Mart, so I decided to look for it online as usual and it was available for purchase and delivery from Wal Mart at a competitive price. It came fast and at a convenient time.

I had ordered a scheduled grocery delivery from a different chain to get some jars but they failed to deliver. I was happy to find that Walmart was offering the same product at a better price. These also arrived faster than estimated at checkout, which is always nice.

They where packed very well by Walmart, with paper dunnage neatly arranged to protect the three dozen jars inside the shipping box.

Why only one star? Unfortunately, there are no cardboard dividers between the pint jars inside their original carton, so every single jar has scratches in several places from where they have rubbed together (it could have been when they where shipped out originally or during shipping to me, either way there is nothing to protect these from rubbing together during shipping after they leave the Ball factory). I thought they put dividers in all sizes, the half pint jars do and they were in mint condition.

The shipping time and packing of my order was great, but Ball has cheaped out and these arrived in a condition where I am uncertain if they are safe to use (I would assume that scratched glass is much more likely to shatter during the extreme temperatures involved with canning).

There was no way to see the damage until I had already removed the plastic wrap, so now I have two dozen scratched up pint jars. Each has multiple areas of damage (there is silica dust showing where the jars touched and rubbed, creating the damage). 

The quilted crystal jars are the half pints which came with cardboard protecting them from friction, preserving them perfectly %26 preventing this type of damage.

But better Ball save a few pennies a box to pass on to their stake holders rather than create packaging that sufficiently protects their products on the way to consumers rather than add the five measly strips of corrugated cardboard that would have kept them safe and like new....as they should be!

Just another unfortunate example of companies being stingy and expecting no-one to notice or care; how could I can food safely if the jars are damaged as a matter of course by the way they are packaged?

In short: five stars for Walmart delivering perfectly, zero stars for Ball cheating out and boxing them without dividers of any kind. Even a slip of bond paper would have probably been enough to keep them from rubbing together.

I don't regularly shop at Walmart (there are none within an hour of where I live for one reason), so I have no means of returning the damaged jars or exchanging them in hopes that they aren't damaged by the time they reach stores: my guess is they probably would be scratch straight off the shelf since they already have to have been shipped to get their.

Might be fine if all you want to use them for is decor or canisters as the scratches aren't huge, but still a bummer buying something new to have it look worse than old mason jars you'd find at a yard sale.

Fast delivery, great packing but jars scratched

PERFECT for breakfast prep! I make ahead an oat mixture each weekend (oats, chia seeds, dried cranberries and raisins, coconut, walnuts) and store them in these in the pantry. At the beginning of the week, I add almond milk, honey and a few stevia drops and put them in the fridge after giving them a shake—- overnight oats for the week! They also fit the blender so I can make ahead smoothie ingredients and keep in the freezer.

Arrived promptly in perfect condition. Just what I ordered and wanted. Good price and easy to order.

Ball Glass Mason Jars

Had a 40% failure rate for these lids. Don't waste all your hard work. Reprocessed the failures and only 50% of those sealed.

Pretty....Useless

The jars was nice looking. 
The packaging on the other hand.
Was no packing to protect the jars. The box was all tore and retaped enough to just hold the box together.

I meant to order the wide mouth jars because this is for a craft, but it's fine...I can use these for something else.  They arrived perfectly, none broken!
