I received this doll for free from Mattel. I have two 7 year old daughters and they are all about fashion. When we first received the doll, I think I may have been possibly more excited than they were. (We never had this kind of stuff when I was little! We had scotch tape and our imagination.) Once my girls got their hands on the package, it was game over! My little fashionistas were taking over the runway and tablet. I love that I am able to see them learning while having a chance to be creative. Allowing them to design Barbie's latest fashions, also give them a chance to express their inner creativity. I haven't seen a refill kit, so that is the only down fall to this doll. It would be nice to be able to give them more to work with considering how much fun they had together. I have told every Mommy of a little girl I know and then some about this doll. Santa is even getting a request for a second doll like this one! Thank you for giving us the chance to try out this doll Mattel! We really love it!

Well, let me first start out by giving Mattel a thank you for sending me this Barbie fashion design maker doll absolutely free. Now onto the Barbie, It's awesome as my daughter put it. Using the website or the app to create the fashion designs was a breeze. My daughter enjoyed uploading her own photos to use on the designs. This Barbie is great to get your artistic and creative child to work her brain. She took her time in creating the designs and if your child is as easy with the dresses like my daughter is then you should easily get several wears out of them. The only complaint that my daughter had was that Barbie's legs do not move or bend. She is more like a mannequin doll. The only complaint I have is that I can not seem to find anywhere to order refill paper for the Barbie. However over all I feel this is a great choice for any girl out there to be able to allow her to express herself through making Barbie's fashions. Thank you again Mattel for allowing me to test and review this product.

The love of barbie and fashion

I got the Barbie Fashion Designer Maker doll for free from Mattel to try the product out. I got the doll for my 8 year old daughter. She is big into designing clothes and playing with Barbie dolls. I was very impressed with this doll. It comes with the printing paper that you put into the printrt to print out the clothes you designed on the app. My daughter loved the way you can design your own clothes and put them on the Barbie. What a great way to use your imagination. All you do is download the Barbie Fashion Designer app and your child can make there own clothes then you print them out and dress your Barbie. You can design different clothes every day that's a plus! Great job Mattel! Love this Barbie.

Fashion Maker

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] My Daughter age 7 received this. We really like it a lot and the app for the iPad. she was able to make all kinds of cool fashions. the extra stickers and glitter flair made it extra fun. We were able to print from our iPad as well. It was easy to put on the doll and take off. Ink drys fast and easy to take apart and put back on. The only negative aspect of it was it would not print exactly on the cut out sheet. about 3/4 on shirt and skirt. We tried 3 different times and still never perfect. our printer loaded from the back, maybe if from the front it works better? but over all a great toy for any crafty creative girl!

Fashion Fun

We received this in the mail a few days ago, and at the rate my 7 year old daughter is going, we won't have many fabric pages left to print on. She has requested to stick the designed outfits onto other Barbies as there really isn't anything too spectacular about this particular Barbie. The app works very well, my daughter was able to figure out how to design the outfits without any difficulty and she anxiously awaits them to finish printing from the printer. The instructions on how to print were very clear and we did this with much ease which was a pleasant surprise. Even when she can't be printing, she enjoys the app on her ipad and busies herself with coming up with more design ideas. I hope that we will be able to find the refills in the stores since my daughter does like this activity quite a lot. I think this would make a great gift for any young girl who likes Barbie and would know how to operate the app. I received this for free from Mattel through Bzzagent.

Little on spendy side but great toy

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I bought this product today and I have been searching for the app a very long time, and still have not found it. The doll has wierd gel stuff on the back of her head.... I dont think that it is supposed to be there. Other then all of the above, the doll looks great and the box came with everything that was advertised.

Couldn't Find App.... Still nice doll?

So I received the Barbie® Fashion Design Maker™ doll free, thanks to Mattel and my daughter and I were very excited and happy to be able to test such a fun looking product. My daughter loves changing her dolls clothing, so the idea of being able to make clothing for her dolls made her really happy.

I was surprised I was able to open the packaging pretty easily. I didn't need any scissors but just a little arm strength. I received a African American doll (which could be a little darker if you ask me), some necklace stickers, what we assumed to be clothing accessories such as belt stickers, and a book with pre-cut fabric pieces on each.

My daughter really liked using the app to create an outfit. She really took her time putting together the right combinations. I had set the printer up while she was selecting her outfits, but had a bit of trouble when printing. The paper didn't want to feed through the first few times but it finally worked out and the outfits printed wonderfully. Maybe the actual paper the sticker fabric is on needs to be thinner since the fabric already makes it a bit thick? Not sure.

After that we put the fabric on the doll and my daughter was very impressed with her work. She wanted to make more, which had me thinking about what I could do with the outfit that she made. So I just stuck it back on the paper it was originally on and it worked great. She made her second outfit and I decided to try and give it a little push while going through the printer and it worked on the first go.

She played with her doll after making the first two outfits but told me how she wished the dolls knees could bend. She wasn't really able to play with the doll since it didn't walk or sit or anything other than the position it was in. The other problem was that the shoes came off too easily. I had to re-wrap the shoes in the clear rubber band it had came in. So.. I'm expecting those shoes to be lost soon. She actually became really bored with the doll after about 10 minutes and wanted to make more outfits. As a parent that has to buy these fabric papers your realizing that your child just likes making the outfit but actually putting the outfit on the doll and playing with it is so limited that it is not interesting. Besides seeing the final product on the doll there's not much to do and to me that seems like a waste of money.

So it really just depends on the parent. I don't want a product that needs replenishing so quickly. My daughter and her friends can easily make 8 outfits in one night.

So the idea for the product is great, but it would be even better if the doll's fabric sheets were reusable some how.

Great Idea.. Needs Improvement

Got this product for Free through Buzzagent.com to test. My 7 year old was excited as this arrived on her birthday so we had to set down to play with it immediately. The dolls is made of hard plastic and her legs do not bend or move as they are fixed to the skirt. The white underdress is permanent as well so this barbie could never wear pants or shorts. She seems to be made just for this purpose. Her shoes will not stay on her feet. It comes with only 8 sheets of "fabric" for the dresses so after you are done with it then what? My 14 year old sat down to do this with her sister. She helped her choose what the outfit would look like and print it. The instructions are fairly clear up to the "save as pdf" part then print. My Cannon inkjet printer did a petty nice job of making the outfit color wise. The necklace that clearly showed on both sides of the top only printed correctly on one side. Shaping the stickers to Barbie was not something my young child would be able to do by herself and make it look decent. Even with my help the skirt has wrinkles on both sides. I am glad I didn't buy this as I would have been disappointed for the money spent, but my daughter is happily playing with her new doll at this point. I will wait to see if she ever asks to print another outfit.

Fun until the printer sheets are gone

Do not buy this doll, the software for the doll does not seem to exist anymore.  I have searched the Barbie.com/Fashion-design-software web site that lists the app, which takes you to the itunes web site to download the itunes software.  I searched itunes and do not see any app for this doll.  it is like they took it off and doesn't exist anymore.

Do Not purchase this doll - software not available

The Barbie Fashion Design Maker, has been discontinued by Mattel and the website no longer supports the print out function that is needed to print the clothing.  I suggest not spending the $50 and disappointing your daughter like mine was.
