[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This is now the second Bayou Classic we own. A high-BTU unit like this ideal for cooking fish outside, where we can avoid having the odors in the kitchen. It provides a solid, stable cooking surface which can hold a lot of weight. I'm sure we'll use it for making large batches of sweet corn and crab apple jelly later this summer.

Haven't used it yet, but this is my second SQ14 burner to supplement my other one in a brewing rig. I'm assuming it will perform the same, but I noticed the regulator is 5 psi vs my old one's 10 psi regulator. Luckily nothing appears damaged, which is a surprise considering it was shipped all the way cross country in a Bayou Classic outer carton with NOTHING to hold the burner/regulator assembly in place within the carton. It's not like the outer carton is the same size as the burner either. There was plenty of space for it to smash around inside the carton during shipping. I just have the feeling the way it is packaged that it was returned or something. If it works fine, great, as my other SQ14 is a capable burner for homebrewing, and a sturdy stand you can sit a 10.5 gallon pot on with plenty of capacity to spare. Walmart's price beat all, as I was able to get this for 50 bucks, shipping included.

Poorly packaged

I have been using this patio burner for canning tomatoes. It works very well with my quart jar Granite Ware water bath canner.
Be aware that Bajou Classic has reduced the propane regulator to 5 lbs. The hose is 3 feet long. This product is listed with a 10 lb. regulator.
The gas set-up works fine for my needs. Someone using oil for frying turkeys may require more heat. I have no experience with that use.
Overall, I like the square shape and the roomy burner. It is very stable and heats my canner full of water very quickly.

The patio burner I was looking for.

I had one of the same make before, its 4 years, used it extensively and served me well. Would recommend this model and make to anyone even those like me who do seasonal commercial cooking.

Great outdoor burner

Borrowed this from a friend a couple of times, she paid almost double this price; I found it on Walmart.com and thought it was a joke, it was delivered quickly and works perfect. This is a keeper!!!

Outstanding!!!

Purpose we bought this: For certain cooking methods like deep frying, shallow frying and sautéing, its always easier to do it outdoors to avoid smoke and pungent aroma inside the house. This stove makes life easier and comfortable when we to do it outdoors.

The hose that's connected with the regulator will have to be screwed into the burner, which was little hard and I was about to give up and thought of returning it. Then I read the manual and as advised, used a wrench and was able to attach it successfully. And it worked like a charm.

The plate (with spring) that connects the hose and the burner controls the air flow and thus control the quality of the flames.

So far, used once and liked it very much, will definitely recommend, paid about $50 at Walmart.

Nice Stove for Outdoor Cooking

We love it

Ordered this burner for home brewing.  Needed burner that was stable & could hear 5+ gallons of water to a boil quickly.  Used this burner for 1st time yesterday & it did an excellent job.  Burner ring is large & puts out even heat below pot.

Great burner

Since the burner had a 5 psi regulator I was hoping that the burner would not be able to get as hot as it can.  The burner appears to be well built.  Wish the regulator was longer.   The flame  burns clean and when the flame is low it is difficult to see.  I have not used it for canning yet, but my concern is that I may not be able to adjust the flame low enough during canning.

Hotter than expected

This patio burner was just what my daughter needed. Its big and sturdy. It holds up her very large tamalie cooking pot. No complaints. Would recommend if you need a patio burner to cook a large amount on.
