Program the radio was pretty straight forward. The Size it perfect and I can fit and basically almost anywhere. I highly recommend this

this scanner works great for the bands and frequencies I like to listen to. However  if you want to monitor police and fire calls you may want to check your area as many  locations use digital and in some cases encrypted signals and this unit will not work for those transmissions.

good little scanner

I've owned a BC350A for close to 20 years and it has served me well. While it still performs reliably I wanted to upgrade. The BC355N comes in the same sturdy package but with an expanded memory and more capabilities. I've been a radio hobbyist for well over 30 years and find this model simple and straightforward to use. If you don't require trunk tracking capabilities this scanner is an excellent choice!

love it just what ive been looking for very easy to program after I went on line with
radio refrence and down loaded the frequencys for my area would highly reccomend

I would recommend this to anyone who loves to listen to a scanner.  I'm a dispatcher and my mom-n-law wanted to listen to me on the radio so I bought her this scanner for Christmas and she is loving every minute of it!

arrived earlier then expected.suprised by the size,pictures make it look bigger.nice and small.programming from the owners manual is confusing but there are video's on line to make it easier to set up.once set up,functions very well.it takes a couple of days of finagling with it to figure out all of it's functions.after that it is pretty simple to operate.sounds excellent.good to use until the new digital scanners come down in price.

nice unit for the money

I bought this scanner because of the inexpensive price but was not aware that I would only receive just a fraction of the radio traffic that I can get from computer-based applications on my laptop. I bought this so I would not have to depend on having an internet connection to monitor radio traffic and because it could be taken and operated in my vehicle as a mobile scanner. There are two issues though that reduces my complete satisfaction with this unit. Turns out that in my locale, most of the municipal and government radio traffic uses a trunked radio signal system that this unit is not equipped to handle. I suppose I should have researched more before buying and I feel the specification documentation of the scanner should have made mention that there were police, fire and EMS signals in use that this unit was not capable of receiving (hence the 3-star rating). Other than that, it is a great scanner and works just fine receiving conventional radio signals and scanning around 100 channels per second. It has an excellent pre-programmed set of ranges and allows programming 100 additional frequencies in 3 categories including 100 user-specific programmable "favorites" bank that gives a total of 300 frequencies / channels. The user manual does a decent job of walking the user through the operation, features and functionality of the unit and is not all that difficult to master. But once mastered and the user gets into the programming, we quickly find there's a catch and the second issue: you can only program up to 100 channels/frequencies into the Private Bank but not 300 like I was expecting to be able to program into that Bank. The other 200 programmable channels are only available as 100 each in the following 2 Banks: PD/FD/EMG & AIR/MRN which already have a pre-defined set of programmed frequency range. The documentation led me to believe I could program 300 frequencies/channels into a single bank so I could specify those frequencies I wanted to concentrate on in a single range category. Although unwanted channels can be locked out and 100 channels can be programmed in each of the other two banks - this still leads to a restriction or complication I wasn't aware of before buying. Nevertheless, you can scan any combination of the three banks as well as the CB bank simultaneously. It has a weather scanner as well but if it's on, it runs exclusively since weather is broadcast as a constant active channel. Bottom line: For the price, this was an excellent value but buyer needs to be aware of the restrictions!

Analog Scanner works but not for trunked signals

Delivery much sooner than expected. That was a plus. However, I tried for three days to get anything other than the static and the weather channel (which was clear as could possibly be.)
Returned to Uniden on the 4th day. I have delayed this review because I wanted to see if there was a fixable problem. Hopefully, I just received a lemon. Have waited long enough. Will know more when the radio is returned to me.

Opinion Delayed

Bought it for my father. I programmed frequencies and tried it out for a short time. Havent heard any chatter - the weather channel is about all that works on this unit. Sending it back

Cheap.
