The taste and texture has changed recently. I would have given it 5 stars but it is too liquid and the taste is really not improved. I have been taking Becel for more than 10 years but I think I will change and find better. Damage

Less interesting taste and texture

We have bought this product for years and really liked it.
Now, from time-to-time, we find that some of the 850mg containers have a product that differs from what has been typical.
Despite keeping it in the same place in our fridge, these containers have a product which is more ‘watery'.
We've decided that if we get any more of these watery-product containers we will have to look at other brands.

Becel Light, 50% Less Calories Margarine

I'm extremely unhappy with the fact that the ingredients have changed to include a milk product. For years, we have been buying Becel Original because it was one of those rare products that was lactose free. I have a serious lactose allergy, and now can no longer use Becel. I don't understand why it was decided to make this change when you already have a 'buttery' version that includes milk. There are large numbers of people like me that see our food choices disappearing as producers add milk products to their formulations.

New Formulation

I'm going to keep this simple. Our family has been buying Becel Original for more than 30 years. We picked up the new "Simple Ingredients" formula last week. One word - disgusting. I'm afraid that I'm going to have to find a new brand. It's too bad because I have been one of you greatest proponents.

So very disappointed to learn of the 57g LOSS to customers for Becel Margarine product. Going from 907g to 850g feels deceptive as the cost has sky-rocketed alongside the loss of product. How does this make sense? This is a basic kitchen staple to so many families. So many will reconsider buying your product - including our family.

Gouging customers added expense for less product

I too have been using your product for years as have my parents. We are very disappointed in the new formula. It smells and tastes rancid, my parents threw away about 4 containers because they thought it was bad. It also does not spread as well as the old recipe. We believe you should have both recipes available so consumers have a choice. If you have no intention of bringing back the original recipe, we too will be switching to a new brand. Sorry but this was a bad decision on your company's part.

Bad new recipe

As a long time loyal becel customer, I'm so disappointed with the new taste. I don't care about simpler ingredients as much as I do about my family's taste preference. I recently bought a large tub and had to throw it out after one meal! For anyone looking for an alternative, I found that Celeb at superstore is an excellent product! Tastes great, and is less expensive. Although I've always been willing to pay more for a superior product, you've lost my confidence and my loyalty. Sorry you have done this to a wonderful product.

Bring back the old becel

I have been using your Becel Original for at least the last 20 years. But recently I threw away 2 containers, thinking it was rancid, not knowing you have changed your formula. I then made a search on the internet to learn that you have changed the formulation of your product. Since then, about a month ago, I tried to get used to the new taste, but I really can't. It's disgusting. I am now in the process to find another brand, and I am not alone finding this new taste uneatable. Is it possible for you to go back to your old formula?

Becel original new formula

We have purchased Becel for decades as it was the only margarine that tasted the closest to butter but much easier to use than butter. The health benefits are just a bonus. And then you changed it. It's wonderful that you're trying to make it healthier but we can't stand the smell/taste. We thought it was rancid. Have tried in on everything that we usually use it for but can't get past that smell/taste. We now have to start buying other brands to try and find a replacement. There are only 2 of us here and we use about 2 lbs a week so now will be buying 100+ pounds a year of someone else's brand.
Very dissappointed in the change.

No longer pleasant tasting!

I thought it was just me and that tastebuds were off. Then I realized it was margarine and tasted it on its own and realized how rancid it tasted. Not sure what you did, but I am throwing out large container and off to the store to buy another brand...

New formula is awful -Becel Original

I/ve used your Becel Original since it first came on the market - with no question as to the product - product still good, but size of container about 30% less at a HIGHER price - will ask both Govt. of Ontario and in particular Federal Govt to figure this one out - I don't mind paying for quality and quantity - I would recommend this product but certainly will advise other consumers I know to be aware of container DOWNSIZING. Also, the actual plastic container - noticed in the newer product - cover is more difficult to open and cracks appear in the plastic. Too bad that consumers have to be turned off by a company using such tactics as container sizing.
