I tried these out for the first time, tipped Crappie jigs with the 2.5" pink shine. Suspended them under a fixed float near cover and came up with some slabs. These also seem to work well for finesse situations, when the bite is lite. I also like how I can recharge/re-use them.

Have been fishing with the Berkley Gulp Alive 1" smelt and 1" chartruese since they first came out, Catch Crappie is what they do... I used to spend $$ every time we went fishing on live minnows, now I can catch 10-12 crappie form each Berkley Gulp alive before it is too tore up from too many hits. I don't even use jigs anymore. Rig these things like a live minnow and just drop it down for some immediate action....it's like crappie candy. Throw 'em back in the tub to recharge them after catching several crappie and take 'em out again later and they're just like new. I will not use anything else... Told all my friends about them and now they are buying them too.Thank you berkley for an awesome product!!

No more live bait

Pair this with a 1/64th trout magnet jig, some 2 of 4lb mono and watch the fish roll in. Lots of species love these minnows.

When the crappies are on, casting a 1 inch Gulp black shad minnow with a 1/32 oz chartreuse jig is the bait to use!  In the spring and the fall, this combo outperforms minnows on a bobber hands down!  Even in the summer evenings, when I get sick of bluegill fishing, I'll catch crappie on this combo as a nice change from the routine.

Also, on occasion, I have picked up an walleye and bass on this combo.

Gulp minnow black shad 1"

It's not fair sometimes.  These baits simply produce for me.  I have a page on Facebook called “What's Working Now” and I have detailed reports up along with tips and tricks that show how to use these baits effectively.

Deadly!!!

I use a wide variety of gulp products. My favorite is the gulp minnow. It never fails to prove this every time I go trout fishing. Living here in tennessee, been trout fishing over 30 years and have tried several techniques/lures. Past 2 years the Gulp minnow has proved to be the best. I fish tailwaters below tva dams and my technique is basically a carolina rig with the gulp minnow as the chosen lure. Below is a 27 inch brown I caught today, caught one other 21 inch brown. During nongeneration periods I drop shot the minnow and it's my choice when going for bass or crappie in the lake. Have the world of confidence in this bait. And the minnow has also proven to be a good bait for walleye or sauger. What more can I say?

My favorite bait

One Crappie after another caught on the 1" Shad Colored Gulp Minnow when used on any 1/16 or 1/32 oz jig head. Caught numerous Bream and Bass (up to 14") too.

Constructive Criticism:
I wish the Gulps were a bit tougher. They seem to deteriorate after 3 fish caught.

The Crappie can't resist this!!!

Great bait, routinely outfishes live bait. I mainly use on 1/8oz  jighead with 3in minnow and have caught 8 species with it, but mainly sauger and walleye. I only wished they lasted a little longer, 3 or 4 walleye/sauger and I need a new bait because the fish tears it up where it wont stay on jighead(including flipping it upside down after 1 or 2.). I save the beat up baits and cut them up into 3-4 pieces and catch crappie and panfish on a float/bobber rig. I've caught many rock bass, bluegill and crappie with pieces of the gulp minnow under a bobber. I understand they are not made from plastic so get beat up quicker, if you could get them to last as long as a standard grub/twister tail I'd give it 5 stars.

Great bait, just wish were more durable

I bought the gulp minnow a couple weeks ago. I brought it out on the local lake on my boat. I caught a lot of crappie on the 2 1/2in minnow and ended up catch a couple nice bass on the 3in. Only complaint is the containers leaked on my boat

It works

The baits look great.  3****'s only because I have not fished them yet, and Berkley needs to resolve the leaking container once opened.  Just can't seem to prevent the bait juice from seeping out.

Assorted Baits

I've never bought gulp in half pint or pint sizes before and assumed id be getting more for my money. When the packed arrived I found that the picture advertised was actually for a full pint. Sounds like a dumb mistake but it shouldn't have been advertised like that. I won't waste time on the website anymore.
