I am giving this cube shelf a five star review because it is exactly what I needed and was expecting.  For less than $100, our playroom is organized and it looks lovely.  

It does wiggle back and forth once it is put together, so I would definitely recommend securing it to the wall with more than just the strap it comes with - a metal bracket and a spacer (to compensate for the molding) did the trick for us. 

I also bought an insert that splits a chamber up into four smaller chambers - it's not a perfectly snug fit but for $10 extra it was worth it. 

There are a couple of places in the instructions where it says you need two people - I had no problem doing it by myself. However, near the end where I was attaching the final short sides and long sides, some of the screw holes did not match up, so I had to shove the shelf against the door frame and lean with all my might to get the screws to line up with the holes. That part may have been easier to do with some help! But despite the screw holes not being lined up, the shelf pieces themselves once they were screwed in were indeed lined up, so I'm not sure what happened there. 

All in all, I assembled the shelf by myself and it probably took less than an hour total (though I assembled it over the course of a few hours while taking care of my four young kiddos). I would recommend it. 👍🏼

Great, gets the job done

I absolutely loved this. It's heavy and sturdy. This material is the type to last long. Only suggestion I would make is you might want a second person helping you, this is really heavy. Was hard to pick up and move around, but was easy to assemble.

Great value for the price! About a sturdy as it can get without being solid wood. I use it to store and organize my various sizes of yarn. I loved it so much I bought another one! One is 4 cubes across (12) and the other is 3 across (9).

Great value for price

there were several pieces that had holes drilled in places just outside of where a screw or peg would fit. was a pain to assemble. pretty once it's put together, but I wouldn't be willing to do it again. I purchased a few of these in different sizes, and they will all get the same review.

Poor design

I have purchased several of the BHG brand cubical shelving units in the past years. Last one being probably 2 years ago…and I am highly disappointed compared to how they once were. I use to love the BHG brand shelves vs. other brands. Paying over $100 for this shelf and the finished being damaged all over the shelves, and the overall sturdiness is not worth the money paid. It is very unsteady and easy to wobble. The lightweight feel of the unit is not as strong as they use to be. Highly dissatisfied overall and not worth $100 plus.

Highly dissatisfied

Product does not assemble squarely. The final panel did not align with the pre-drilled holes, so I had to use my own self-driving screws to finish assembly. The final result is sloppy and unkempt and I'm disappointed, but it's too hard to return it. And even after all that, it still feels unstable and rocks if you touch it. Stick with IKEA Kallax if you're looking for quality cube shelves.

Does not assemble squarely

Terrible quality.  Assembled exactly as the instructions indicated and it is super heavy and not sturdy at all. The entire unit is wobbly. The dowels included in this build are plastic, cannot imagine them holding up over time. Quality for a BHG product seems to be very cheap compared to other items purchased.

I had a difficult time trying to put this together. Followed the instructions and couldn't get the center to align without trying to put on the sides. 2 panels broke as I tried to get other side aligned. I was so excited about this because I love my 1 by 2. I use them as bedside tables and I didn't have nearly the trouble I had with this one. By the time I got it assembled, the particle board had separated from the paneling

I'm pretty good at assembly but not this time

broke half the pieces trying to put it together. holes that doent line up cause the entire assemply to be anable to put together....causing pieces to break. put 90 % together in 15 minutes..the last step to add the 2 sides took 2 hours because hole didnt line up properly. i gave up and returned it out of pure frustration and pieces being broken meant no more could be done to salvage.

I do not recommend anyone purchasing this.  It's impossible to assemble this, the holes are misaligned and there was also a chip on the shelf finish that flaked off.  My husband had to redrilll the holes so you could square it up and used his own deck screws!  Terrible. It's so cumbersome, to return this thing it would be so much trouble. Have no choice but to keep it.
