I just took this tow bar out of the box tonight it arrived I was very impressed with the quality and workmanship and the practicality I hope tomorrow when I install it on my Dodge Dakota I'm not disappointed when I start to tow if something goes wrong I'll let you know but this bugger is built pretty strong

I'm towing a '99 wrangler rated just under 4000 lbs and have had no issues. Some of the bolts/nuts/chains and the ball-lock look a little cheap but they've held and not shown any wear over 5000 miles.

For 5000 lbs. why pay more?

Wished it would have worked

The versatility of the tow bar is great. The problem lies in the ball hitch mechanism. It flat does not work. The spring is too weak and does not seat therefore not allowing to drop onto the ball nor release without taking the nut off of the bolt that holds the hitch ball.

Problem with hitch ball holder

This item is not for every ordinary user.  You cannot just buy it and hook up to a vehicle and begin to tow.   I used my SUV and tried to connect to a toyota camery and tow it.  I had to have another person to help me.  I could not use the attached parts because they design for something else.  Eventually I was able to connect.  It worked ok until I got onto the highway.  I felt the towed car wiggle and the it broke apart.  Fortunately, I was able to pull into the side and no accident occurred.  The tow piece came off.  I had to call a towing company to pick up the car.
There is not much useful instruction accompanied the pieces.  You really have to know what you are doing and have experience.  Otherwise, this is not a safe package to use and tow vehicle.

Not easy to use and is not quite safe.

The reason I gave it a 1 star is because just used it to pull a truck to Texas and had lots of problems with it. The bolt and one chain broke half ways to texas
