I have owned this wonderful multipurpose steamer since I was a university student....12 years ago. The steamer finally stopped working today and I will be buying this one again! It definitely beats the hassle of stove top steaming, simple and reliable.

great little steamer! love the fact that it is so easy to use. Just throw in your food, set the timer and your all set. Don't have to watch it at all. Making hard boiled eggs are great with this steamer. When your all done, just rinse and all clean!

simple to use

I bought one about 10 years ago and after a few years I gave it away because I bought a new one.  I have had this one for about 6 years and the bottom of the basket has cracked down the middle.  I could still use it if I wanted to but for the price of this multifunction product I would buy a new one every year if I had to.  I use mine at least 4 times a week, and I can cook full meals in it for myself and my teenaged son on most nights, with or without rice.

We use it more than the microwave and stove.

I love using my new Black and Decker Steamer! I really like the size - it's big enough to put a lot of veggies into for the entire family! (I previously owned a small one).

We have been using ours for over 4 years several times a week and it is still awesome. It steams veggies perfectly and it makes decent rice (everyone likes their rice different).

I am very pleased with this incubator. It is compact, not too high, fits well in the Armoire. Compartment for flavors- spices or others it is a good concept. A guide to see the water in the container, the flow of steam through the openings of the canopy. I highly recommend it

Tool

Pros:
- Steams evenly.
- Easy to clean.
- Cheap.
Cons:
- It's plastic, so it breaks. The timer knob broke off, and the plastic at the bottom of the tray snapped in half. It's usable, but it's annoying, as sometimes the veggies fall through the tray.
- You need to let it cool down for at least an hour before cleaning it... so sometimes you'll forget to clean it and it smells pretty awful the next day.

I've had this for 5 years now...

The title says it all. This steamer is great because it doesn’t take up too much space or height. It does not last in time. The timer stopped working after 4 years (although I don't use it every day! ), and so I can't use it anymore. In addition, the (plastic...) piton to launch the timer ended up breaking too! The planned obsolescence, eh? I don't know if a digital version rather than a mechanical version will solve the problem, because we are not immune to a problem in the digital panel... (or electronic)

Great, but not lasting in time

I bought this item,and it came with a cook book as well as guide.I used this twice and both times I felt despite following recommended guidelines as far as coking times it left my carrots still raw in the middle,so I tried to steam them again to find they were now soggy.I lost the receipt so I gave it away.

Waste of money.
