PS3.vs.xbox 360 elite

Not sure about the overheat issues with this sku but I haven't had any problems with that at all. Great system nice and compact. would recommend getting the stand if you plan on sitting it upright as it's a tad bit unstable when standing it on it's side. Otherwise I would recommend this to anyone who wants a PS3.

Great system

I purchased the entertainment bundle and I am definitely happy ! The unit is easy to use and took no time at all to hook up to my LCD HD TV. What great graphics and the BluRay movie is unreal ! I initially only hooked up my HDMI cord and got nothing until I read more and found I had to use the regular patch cords to start out and then the unit recognized the HDMI. It also automatically found my wireless network and I was online immediately.Get one of these if you are looking for more than just a gaming system.

I purchased this (to the amazement of my grown sons) mainly for it's great Blu-Ray player capability. I also looked forward to some spectacular games that both my wife and I could learn to play as well as provide fun for my sons whenever they visit. The system was easy to set up and I was in business within minutes of connecting it to my 42 inch HDTV. Warning: it does not come with an HDMI cable but I got a excellent one for only $9. It does come with a set of composite (red, white, yellow) cables though.

I was a little amazed that with little trouble, the device had no problem connecting to the Internet via my home wireless setup and downloaded updates to its software. I also had no trouble when I loaded our first game disk, which also downloaded updates for the game. The built in browser connected to the Internet and I logged onto my account on AOL. Terrific. there's even an easy way to zoom in on parts of a page that might otherwise be difficult to read.

My only difficulty came when I tried to download a wonderful game called "Flower" from the PlayStation store. Games for the PS3 cannot be downloaded to my PC first. They have to come directly to the PS3 via the Internet and no matter what I did, the attempt to log onto the store timed out. I have tried at all times of day but nothing helped. I have not had a chance to get in touch with support on this issue and it's strange because I can always get to the Internet with the PS3 browser.

For anyone who does not want to download stuff from the PlayStation Store I highly recommend this product It's a great Blu-Ray player and up-converts DVD's and they look great. It's also a great game player and if you are at all versed in dealing with PC support you should have little problem with this. But if you want a totally trouble-free device (like DVD players and simple gaming systems were), you may need some technical help from your more tech-expert family members to trace down Internet-PCS3 problems.

Admittedly, there is much about this system I have yet to learn, particularly with regard to optional equipment available. I also have had no interst (so far) in playing someone else on-line. I can say that one of the most valuable additions you should think about getting would be Sony's player remote control (although the game control it comes with can be used for everything). Yes, it's another remote you have to use but it's only one of the five I already have. I have yet to try connecting a real keyboard via its USB port, which would make text entry a whole lot easier.

Bottom line: Great Blu-Ray player for the price. Great up-convert for older DVD's. Great Game player. Easy to set up and use. No heat problems noticed. Go for it!

Great product but complicated

Has built-in WiFi. Has a web browser. Bought Unchartered, Ratchet and Clank, and NBA 09, and the graphics are incredible. Can't imaging the graphics getting much better. NBA 09 almost looks like a real basketball game. Has Blu-ray. The Dark Knight and Transformers look and sound phenomenal. Better than being at the movies. Upscaled DVDs are no comparison. Has a nice auto power off feature. I got the Nyko IR remote so the PS3 works with my universal remote. The controllers are a little slippery, but I solved that by getting a silicone controller skin. Looked at the Wii, but too simple. Looked at the Xbox 360, but too unreliable.

PS3 has the most value

I liked this product and it has great graphics but the only thing that irked me was that it is only backwards compatible to PS1 games but not PS2 games, because most of the games I own are PS2 games.

Also, that the company discontinued the only PS3's with this backwards compatiblity and the 4 USB slots.

Not backwards compatible

I bought this system online for my husband's birthday it worked for about 10 days. Started making a clicking noise when disk was inserted and would not read the disk. Took it to the local store, they were extremely nice. Refunded my money and we turned around and purchased a new system. We have not had any problems with the new system. would recommend purchasing the extented warranty with the system.
