Delicious

I bought 2, because I thought I would need 2 to make the double layer on the picture. Turns out the recipe makes 2! I made 2 anyway (a fairly generous size cake) Only I used a coconut pecan frosting. I could not believe how rich, moist and delicious it was! I gave some to a co-worker and he said it was the best he'd ever tasted! Can't wait to make this again (double the recipe!)

Bob's Red Mill

I decided to do some baking with my great granddaughters a few weekends ago. (We babysit them) We ended up making cupcakes and they disappeared so fast that there wasn't even one left for their mom when she came to pick them up! The oldest girl didn't even wait for the frosting, she ate one that had barely had time to cool!

My whole family loves this!

This is my go-to chocolate cake mix for all occasions, whether my guests are gluten free or not. I use oil instead of melted butter because I think it makes a very moist cake. I make a frosting with gluten free chocolate chips melted and mixed with equal parts milk and we use it for celebrations as well as dessert. I also use it to make muffins and I pour a syrupy mix of the same choc chips and milk over the top of each and let it drip down the sides.

Makes delicious chocolate cake

Pro: It was better than the GF chocolate cupcakes from a local "boutique" bakery.

Con: Amount of oil called for in the instructions on the package went beyond producing a tender crumb and made the cake "greasy". Very bland chocolate flavor. Suggest changing the number of cupcakes the batter makes from 12 to 16; I made 14 (in paper cups in a standard 2 1/2" cup size muffin tin), and the batter still flowed over the edges. Filling 16 muffin tin cups to 2/3 capacity I think would result in round top muffins without "muffin tops".

Cupcake Overflow

I gave 2 stars for the deep chocolate flavoring, but no stars for overall taste and texture. They were dry and crumbly. When heated in the microwave, and covered with melting ice cream, it's a little better. I wouldn't purchase again because I don't require gluten free.

Not my favorite

I'm so disappointed!  I followed the directions exactly on the package to make gluten free chocolate cupcakes and they were a big flop.  The cupcakes spread on the top of the muffin pan and stuck together.  I had to bake them for 30 minutes in order to get the middles to set with toothpick test.  As you can imagine, had difficulty getting them out of the muffin pan, even having used muffin papers.  When cool and removed from the pan the tops stared coming off.  I followed the instructions on the back of the package exactly.  Only thing I can think of is I live at 5000 feet, should I have done something different for high altitude?  I have other packages of this mix to use and would like some suggestions on how to make this work.
