Great Product!

Very nice product, the texture is just a tad firmer than the normal brown lentil (not as mushy, keeps its shape for the most part). I'm always looking for ways to help my family enjoy healthy foods and try to get a variety as well! Thanks for a great product!

A Good Lentil

Bob's Red Mill

I have type 2 diabetes, and read somewhere (Facebook?) that lentils are great for keeping blood sugars under control. I now substitute green lentils or other lentils for potatoes, rice, and pasta. They have made a wonderful addition to my diet and I find I am less hungry than I used to be when I ate more/higher carbs. Green lentils take longer to cook than other lentils, and they are delicious al dente. Cooked with TJ's frozen mushrooms, very delicious!

Green lentils are lovely

I love puy lentils, as well as French green lentils. I have to say Bob's Red Mill are amongst some of the best I have had.  All very uniform, so they all had the same texture.  Also I didn't feel like I needed to sort them. They seemed sorted and cleaned. I did rinse them but they seemed game ready. The texture was fantastic. I cooked them up with a mirepoix, bacon, bay leaves and thyme. And topped it with some creme fraiche, chives, and some Chile oil.

Great quality control

When I lived in Portland it was easy to find any Bob's Red Mill product; if it wasn't at my usual grocer I could run across town to the factory store. I didn't realize how lucky I was. Now I live in Albuquerque where many stores carry a few a Bob's products, but I have to order some of my staples online because nobody has them. These green petite French lentils are one of those. I've tried several varieties of green lentils, but they all become mushy when cooked in soup. Bob's French green lentils hold their shape and become tender, not mushy or grainy. During the pandemic, so many people bought up Bob's products that the Red Mill factory ran out of these and many other of the products I regularly use. I am so happy to have just received my first order of a case of petite green French lentils in over a year, plus a case of polenta and a few other staples. I can't wait to make a batch of quick & easy French lentil soup from my old Bob's Red Mill Cookbook!

So Much Better than Regular Green Lentils!

I did a water fast for 5 days and coming off of it, I made My 1st ever plant based vegan lentil soup with Bob's red lentils and green lentils,  squash, tomatoes ?? onions, carrots ?? celery, garlic, bell pepper, dill, parsley, pasta, and amaranth. So delicious and healthy! 

It made my transition from water-only to solid plant based vegan food a breeze! 

I just became a plantbased vegan and replaced all my feta cheese, steam, and eggs needs with Bob's Red Mill grains, seeds, and legumes.

This was one of the purchases, I got red and green lentils. I never cooked lentils before. 

Tip: I soaked them for 4 hours in 4 different waters, they don't cause any stomach problems

Homemade yummy lentils soup in no time - delicious

These lentils hold their shape and are excellent for salads.  I make a Greek Salad and use a base of brown rice / french green lentils with some cooked vegetables added in (red onion, mushroom and carrots).  Layer the rice/lentil mix, tzatziki sauce, and then the Greek salad -- makes and awesome meal.

I never knew lentil were so easy to cook!

I buy these where ever I find them.  These ones cooked well evenly.  No tough old dry ones that never soften.  One fewer star only because this one has a good amount of dirt - clumps of dirt.  Hard to pick out since the lentils are speckled green/brown.  It requires extra attention picking through them and washing before cooking.

Beans, beans and more beans is what Dr. Gregor of the book, How Not to Die, recommends. If you don't currently follow him, you should because he has the science behind the WFPB diet. Also, he's a hoot! Anyway, I cooked a big pot of these yesterday and we are having homemade lentil soup and salad for dinner. The lentils stayed nice and intact, did not turn to mush like some do. I think the soup is going to be epic!
