Chewy sorghum is a great replacement for bulgur wheat or couscous in tabbouleh or falafel recipes. It takes some getting used to, but it does taste good. It has a mild earthy flavor, and it considered a powerhouse grain. I fix it in a savory flave=red mixed that goes over well.

Excellent product.  Gluten free. Also lectin free.  Pressure cook it and use for breakfast cereal.  I add some raisins, craisins, and sliced almonds.  Also add some honey and olive oil.  Try it if you have a sensitive GI tract.  I cook a five day supply and refrigerate it.

Gluten Free Sorghum Grain

We love Bob's Red Mill grains, especially The Grains of Discovery.  My wife mixes variety of Bob's Red Mill grains, and cook to al dente.  The grains are so delicious with little EVO, herbs, avocado, and homemade sauerkraut - that's just one combination.  The grains are nutritious and very satisfying.  Try all of Bob's Red Mill grains.

We were attracted to this grain because it is gluten-free. We tried it as a cereal, as a salad garnishment, and as popped grain. In spite of following the directions, we failed to cook it enough to make it a tender cereal or salad addition, and (after several attempts) we got such small 'popped' grain that it wasn't worth the effort. We bought a large quantity, hoping for the best. I hope we can find friends who will try it.

Not our favorite

It takes a very long time to cook.  I cooked it way longer than the 50 to 60 minutes (about an hour and a half) and it was still chewy.  It is rather plain, so i wished I had cooked it in broth.  It would be good mixed with other things or with some kind of sauce.  It is great there is one more option for those who are gluten-free, though few, if any stores in our area have sorghum.
