I love the Bosch GLM165 22 except for the battery life. I'm an Architect and use it for all of my field measuring. I'd highly recommend getting rechargeable batteries with this unit and keep spare batteries with you.

Great tool but Battery Life is an issue

boschtools.com

no good references on how to use, memory function etc. Quick start guide is useless. Manual is more to protect Bosch than train the user.

Bad User Manual and instructions

No real operating instructions; mostly a safety guide and the quick start guide is more for the 27C models with bluetooth.. Had to search the internet to learn what the stakeout feature is and how to use it. Other than that, the unit is a quick and accurate tool.

Needs real operating instructions

Bought this product with the expectation of being able to use like a laser tape measure to measure the length of object, spaces on a wall, etc. No help in quick start or manual AT ALL for advice on how to actually get started...

Could be Great, but Manual is Terrible.

The device works very well even if it didn't have Bluetooth. Vigorously using MeasureOn, as I needed to quickly transfer interior dimensions of an existing house. I found MeasureOn was lacking valuable features so I decided to find other companion apps and found ArcSite a preium software that has great features to complement any LDM. Unfortunately I found out that you bar third party developers from your APIs. That's what they replied to me on Instagram, and I wonder what can be done about that.

I may end up returing my GLM165 for a Leica because thats one other quality company that partners with ArcSite.

Solid, but..

Not so good. It worked great for a few months, then just quit working.
It turns on, and goes through the functions, but shuts off as soon as I hit the measure button.

I bought this unit to replace an old GLM 50 that has an older style black and white screen with small numbers. I liked how the box shows larger numbers the fill the whole screen. I'm starting to need eye glasses and these larger numbers would make it easier to measure. Well this feature is not available, it's only ADVERTISING. The actual measurement is a small number on the bottom of the screen. The rest of the screen is taken up by measurement history, or nothin at all. There is nothing in the instructions explaining how to get a larger number display. So I'll likely take it back.

I also think it's pretty misleading to to have 22, 22C, and different letter versions just for the added features. I bought this thinking it had bluetooth, but it doesn't.

Large numbers on screen like box not available

We bought this to use in an industrial setting, measuring for layouts, CAD floorplans, etc. Worked great. Then, one fine day, bricked. Changed batteries, nothing. Tested the terminals and got dead short. Sent the unit in under warranty, received a replacement along with a nice note asking us to not store with the batteries inside. OK, but the battery door is convoluted and requires a screwdriver to access. Every time, if you want to use the belt clip. What a stupendous design flaw and corporate obsolescence, selling a known defective product and just hoping the storm passes while taking the small PR and sales hit. We will be going a different route when this one inevitably dies again. What a stain on the reputation of Robert Bosch.

Stay away, bum units

Received this product as a gift and it stopped working after only a few uses. Very disappointed. Poor quality.

Very disappointing

Used twice never wet or in a bad environment turned it on today with new batteries and every time I hit the measure button an error symbol comes up and it just resets. Even after factory reset does the same thing.

Terrible quality in operable after 2nd use
