[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] The Bostitch QuietSharp 6 Electric Pencil Sharpener is a classroom sharpener, but I use it at home and it is great. It has a one-hand easy turn selector dial with 6 sizes to choose from. The QuietSharp motor is very quiet and it sharpens very fast. The Tip Saver Technology stops sharpening at just the right time no matter what type of pencil is being sharpened. The shavings tray is very generously sized. The base is oversized and has suction cup feet for stability. There is a 6 foot power cord so placement should not be an issue either. The MagnaSafe safety switch stops the motor when the shavings tray is removed.

We have really been putting this pencil sharpener through the paces, with two school age children and two adults who always use pencil, it is used very frequently. It seems to be very sturdy and able to hold up to rigorous use. We have had to empty the shavings tray once already and it was very easy to remove and clean out. The safety switch allows me to have the kids do it without worrying about them hurting themselves. I would recommend this for any household, not only a classroom. Especially if your family uses a variety of different pencils.

When shopping, I had my choices down to two models. I chose this one because it had a triangular pencil guide. However, it does not fit the laddie triangle pencils.  They sharp and very lopsided in the bigger circular hole.  The over sharpening sensor, locks pencils frequently.  The suction cup feature is nice, but the waste bin is not insecurely so you cantThe suction cup feature is nice, but the waste bin is not in securely. It sits nicely, but you can not bump it, as youre trying to undo the suction cups or it falls out.

not what I hoped for

Quality is nice as such. But it wastes almost 1/3rd of the pencil as it can't sharpen after a certain length and that's a little more than 1/3rd of the pencil length! Otherwise, sturdily built and solid multi size pencil sharpener.

it came quick enough but it is very hard to push pencil in for sharpening.  children will have a tough time with this however I will sharpen pencils myself.

hopefully it will loosen up from daily use.

I purchased this sharpener in August of 2009. After one year the pencils were not sharpening very well. I survived last school year with it, but it was not sharpening the pencils well and they would sharpen uneven. I found my original paper work and warranty information. This product had a 3 year warranty so I called the company. They blade is not covered under the warranty and it is not replaceable on this model. I was told that the new model EPS 11 has replaceable blades. I do not feel that I got my money's worth out of this sharpener.

I am a middle school teacher and I originally bought this because my classroom had very thin walls. Yes it is quiet compared to some other ones I have heard, but it doesn't sharpen to a point. My students usually give up after the sharpener has chewed off half their pencil and choose a hand sharpener. I wouldn't buy it again.

The sharpener is not working as I expected it. Too late to return cause I threw the receipt and box away. It does not sharpen the pencil as good as it should be. It gets hot easily and therefore it just shuts down so you'll have to wait for the sharpener to cool down before you can use it again. It does make less sound when you sharpen a pencil compared to other sharpeners.

Disappointed with the purchase

I've been looking for a decent pencil sharpener the past few months. I'm a fourth grade teacher and my kids go through pencils like their building log cabins. I need my students to have sharpened pencils to write neatly. However, I'm not sure if it's the pencil's quality is defective becuase the pencil companies got their wood/graphite from a 3rd world country, but I know that this pencil sharpener isn't worth the money. It over heats quickly, eats the pencils, and doesn't sharpen to a point. When the pencil is "sharpened", there's always that little piece of wood left over on one side of the tip. It is quieter that other traditional sharpeners; however I'd rather have a pencil sharpener as loud as chainsaw that gets my pencils sharpened over the Stanley Bostitch Quiet Sharp 6 Commercial Desktop Electric Pencil Sharpener.
