I discovered the Cafe Roma while staying in a vacation rental in beautiful British Columbia.  I used it every morning and was delighted with the quality of the espresso shots and impressed with how easy it was to use this machine.  When I returned home, I purchased a Cafe Roma for myself - plus some nice accessories.

I am a fan of Latte Coffee. !! As I am not familiar not to say beginner I started to read the reviews on this machine (café Roma) his made me indecisive to make the purchase of this machine because some comment was not up to what Breville could say! - Oh, my God. So finally I got started and I bought this wonder, I went to a coffee burning shop I told her that she espresso machine I had and she ground my coffee at 2.2 and it's perfect! !! I strongly suggest it goes very very well easy to use and maintenance in addition to having a beautiful look.Thanks Breville!!! - Oh, my God.

Very satisfied! - Oh, my God.

A simple machine. Good espresso and milk drinks. Not complicated, no bells and whistles, just a good every day machine.  Not automated- you do it yourself so sometimes it's better than others, probably because of something I did! I make 2 flat whites every morning.

Daily use for 8 years with success

Perfect for a small countertop coffee bar—sleek and affordable. I'm an avid espresso drinker but not ready to invest in a bigger machine. Love Breville products!

This is my 3rd Cafe Roma purchase. My 2 previous ones just got old and needed replacing.  This one gets a 4 star rating, instead of 5, because my Porta filter rattles inside...as if something is loose in the handle.

Great little machine which should give you years of enjoyment. Buyer beware though that Breville is no longer making/supplying the pump should it need replacing.

Good machine!

The portafilter is 50ml, not 54ml or even 58ml like other Expresso machines. So buying tamps and other accessories is problematic. The extraction is not the typical volume. Instead of 17-18 grams of ground beans, you're lucky if the portafilter can be filled with 14g. The milk steamer wand now has no coating left, just looks like copper. Idk. For bang for the buck, it works. Just don't expect too much from it than the average expresso. The temps are good, the water container holds a decent volume. The hot plate is good. I find myself now wanting more from my expresso maker, just not prepared to shell out thousands of dollars.

Going strong after 10 years…but

The Cafe Roma is a great espresso coffee machine. My control knob button broke and Breville customer support replaced it asap.
However....
The new Cafe Roma that we received is made cheaper.
The handle of the filter holder assembly handle is cheaper and feel the it will eventually break 
The steam release pipe has been shortened making mousse less dense therefore not as good tasting
Build and assembly to he final product feels cheaper 
All in all it seems the the cafe Roma quality is cheaper and the coffee coming out of it feels les enjoyable

The good got cheaper

It's a good beginner espresso machine, but not a great machine.  I don't like the fact that black plastic is used in the portafilter.  That black plastic will get into my espresso every time I use it.  Also, the water is not heated to 100 degrees Celsius.  More like 70 degrees.  You need higher temperatures to extract coffee, especially the oils.  Again, a good beginner machine, but not good for long term espresso drinkers.

Breville Café Roma

I have purchased as a house warming gift to my friends but they found the coffee not very hot and tasty. There is also too much unnecessary hassle with cleaning after each cup of coffee prepared. I am returning.

mediocre experience

Leaked water from both milk frother and where the water comes out of onto the espresso.  Leaked so much that it filled the tray underneath to overflowing.  Returned item to retailer.
