After one year in our house (built in 2010), we noticed the doorbell is not working I opened it and saw that it was broken. I have attached three photos showing you that the right side rod that strikes the chime is broken. When we push the outside button, nothing happens. I would like to simply repair if it able to do that, but it would require replacement parts

The doorbell was installed by our builders electrician and connected to a Ring door camera by a technology vendor.
Several people indicated they rang our doorbell and on one answered when we were home. Had both the electrician and tech vendor trouble shoot. After replacing the NuTone doorbell system and the Ring camera the bell still no work. After several hours of trouble shooting the tech guys purchased an upgraded transformer. This worked. The on provided with the NuTone doorbell was under powered and did not work.

16-volt transformer - Not Enough

Just moved into my new home and the doorbell just buzzes after 2 and 1/2 months.  My wife said a guest pressed the doorbell in and it got stuck just for a few seconds and it stopped working after that.  I pulled the cover and the right plunger was melted. Shouldn't this last more than 2.5 months?  We just sold a 18 yr old home and never had an issue with the doorbell.  The builder asked us if we wanted one and I said yes.  I thought nutone was a good product.  I wired the front door wire to the back door and it has the single ring for the meantime.  This seems like a workaround.  Can I fix or should I switch to another brand?

Last only 2.5 months, how do I fix?

Ive lived in my brand new home for less than 4 years. My doorbell chime stopped working after about 1 year. It appears to be poor quality/cheaply made and sounds like the life of these are short.

Life span is short

Lasted 3 years, professionally installed by builder. Noticed a buzzing sound - tore it open and see that the chime broke, parts melted, spring was loose. total piece of garbage. Fortunately when I went to buy replacement parts I see it was discontinued so nobody else will get stuck with this junk. I just ordered a different brand and it will probably last 20 years like doorbells used to. Glad this thing didnt burn our house down! Look at the photo. Brian used to be better than this. This damaged their brand image in my mind.

Piece of garbage. Avoid this product!

Installed by my builder in 2019. Light stopped working after six months but didn't think anything of it. Just discovered that the buzzer probably hasn't been working this whole time. We get almost zero front door traffic but I surprised a FedEx driver as I was exiting and he said he'd rang the bell a few times. Took the cover off to discover spring out of place and burn marks.

Like everyone else, the tone was almost unintelligible. I removed the cover to find the spring to the short arm and the holder cap laying in the bottom of the cover plate. The cover cap had shattered. Can't reglue the cover cap to the arm because it's in pieces. I'll replace with something that isn't builder grade junk.Another fine Made In China product.

Not worth the trash bag to toss it into

My new construction home is less than a year and a half old - and this door bell and chime have already completely failed. The door bell button has gotten stuck multiple times, but we've always noticed the buzzing and popped the button back out (the first time it happened, it took a bit to figure out where the buzzing was coming from).

However, last weekend we were out of town and apparently this happened again. When we got home, the house smelled like chemicals and we couldn't figure out why. The next day, I was on the porch and noticed that the button was stuck again, so I popped it back out and didn't think twice about it.  It wasn't until today that we realized that the door bell wasn't working at all. When I pulled the chime cover off, a small piece of plastic and a spring fell to the floor. When I examined the plastic, it looked like it had melted - and I immediately remembered the smell. There is also discoloration inside the chime cover.

I got online to see about a replacement only to find out that this is a known issue and that many other people have had this same experience. This door bell and chime should be taken off the market - shame on NuTone for continuing to sell it.

Complete Garbage

My sister visited today. After we'd been talking for a while we noticed a buzzing sound. I finally tracked it down to my doorbell chime.

The button was stuck so after some fiddling I dislodged it. Then I noticed a burning smell (electrical/plastic/chemical burning smell). This was installed by the contractor that built this house (I bought it brand new 4 months ago).

I pulled the cover off so I could identify the model number and look for a manual and some troubleshooting information. That led me here where I learned from all the other reviews that my problem isn't just a one-off occurrence.

This product has two major defects: the doorbell button that comes with this model gets stuck in the depressed-position easily. Worse, when left depressed it clearly allows too-much current to continually go through too-small a wire that heats up. That is a DANGEROUS fire hazard!!!

Several people, now including myself have had it melt internal components. Luckily I and others have not had it start a fire (though my fire alarm did start beeping shortly after the incident).

This should be RECALLED!

Clearly a Garbage, Defective, Dangerous Product

One little ding that requires your presence within 20 feet.  Builder went cheap.  Just ordered wireless unit to replace it.
