I've had it about a month and so far I am loving it. I am an experienced sewist so maybe a little easier for me to get the hang of it. Instructions are simple. All the stitches I have tried have been wonderful. I've used it to fix the hem on some  bath towels, which was pretty thick and I had no problems at all. Definitely would recommend this machine for the price.

The amount of stitching guides is wonderful. My wife is still learning how to sew. this is a great starter unit and it doesn't weigh much. we ended up using my KitchenAid mixer cover from Amazon but really any cover will work. it is pretty light so it would be great too use anywhere.

Great Product

This is an excellent choice for a beginner or the person who wants to travel to classes, retreats etc. and not have to lug their heavier, more expensive machines. I purchased it for quilting as a traveling machine. It is inexpensive, light weight and does a great job. I also purchased one for my 10 year old granddaughter to learn on. It is very easy to use and she made a table runner and dog bandana's within a week. It is definitely a little work horse and we'll worth it's price

I needed to replace my machine and found this one thru the Walmart app.  It was a familiar brand and well priced.  I also knew if I did not like the machine or had any issues with it. It would be an easy return. I have used it several times and I've had no issues.   I was looking for a sewing machine with a needle threader; the one on this machine is very quick easy to use.  
For a beginner, the instructions are well written and there are YouTube videos available as well if needed.

Easy to use sewing machine

With clothes  being so expensive decided I would give sewing a try! itʻs great for my teenage daughterʻs to learn on and will last for years.  I see so many great ideas from social media accounts with  tutorials that are simple and easy to follow especially  when so many are using this exact model.

I canʻt wait to make my first top

She initially purchased a Singer at Michael's, but when it was defective straight out of the box (the automatic needle threader did not function), she returned it and went with a brand she has used for years. Guess what - the Brother works perfectly... at half the price.

Reliable

No second thoughts. this is working great and i can mend many items so far. i have used the cheap one and the thread breaks in thoes every often. no such mess in this. i recommend this.

I cant believe i only paid $134 for this machine, it is the easiest machine to use it sews so smooth you would have thought i paid $500 for it. i absolutely am impressed with this one. Would repurchase it again.

Perfect

I just received my brother cs5055 today and got it all set up. I used my flash light on my phone to look at the screen because it doesn't light up and noticed scuffs all over the screen. Also it was blinking E1 on the screen. Is this normal? Should I return it and order another one? I want the same machine, but if there's going to be scuffs on it I want them to be because I put them there. I turned it off and back on and so far the E1 message hasn't came back up bust till concerned about the scuffs/scratches

Plastic on it's construcción feels frágiles, the accesories feel the sane and are not identified as they should the footpress not numberes, needles incomplete, at least not the ones describes i detauls of product

I bought this sewing machine because it's supposed to be "great for beginners", well that's definitely not true in my case. It took a month of fiddling around with the setting before I found one that actually sewed a clean line. I was having issues with the thread bunching up. Now I'm having issues with fabric getting stuck inside. It's impossible to sew elastic ends together if they're not thick and my needles keep breaking. I've gone through a half dozen needles already and threw away multiple projects cause the fabric is getting tore up inside the machine. I would recommend buying a sewing machine that is more expensive and higher quality because this thing is not worth the headache.

Buy cheap - get cheap.
