This printer is replacing a Cannon ink jet printer as I finally got fed up with clogging ink jet nozzles! I don't really need color prints so this black only laser jet is perfect for my applications.  Setup was quick and easy and with the Brother app I really enjoy the ability to print directly from my cellphone. I should have bought this years ago! Used it a dozen times so far and its not obnoxiously loud and takes up a reasonably small footprint.

The Brother DCP-L2640 is a great addition to my home office. It has great eco settings that make this unit very affordable!! The print quality is excellent; so much more economical than inkjet! As with any laser printer, the initial warmup is power-intensive, but only for a split second! Love that it’s wireless and no connectivity issues! I recommend this scanner, copier, printer if you don’t require color output, which I don’t!!

Great Printer!!

I've had the printer for a month or so, and have only used the print function so far.  Print quality is good, and setup was relatively simple.  I can print from my android phone and tablet wirelessly which I really like.  The printer can print on both sides of the paper automatically.  I bought the printer to replace an inkjet printer made by another company, because the price of ink for that printer was getting ridiculous.  Since I don't do a lot of printing, and don't really need to print in color,  I'm hoping in the long run I will save money.  For the price, seems like a decent printer.  Time will tell as to how long it will last, and how economic it is to use.

Prints well

It is fairly simple as far as multi function printers go, the original toner cartridge ran out at about 1/2 a ream of paper but the good news is it does seem to play well with after market toner cartridges..a major concern for other printer manufacturers.

Exceeded Expectations! Brother Nailed The DCPL2640!

The DCP is a great 3-in-1!  Works Great!

I dislike that Mac OS Monterey does not print by default, like Catalina did.  I also dislike it not including an installation disk, because satisfying Apple can be time consuming on older Mac minis.  I removed a star because of the missing installation disk.

Works well

I have had virtually the same printer for the past 10 years or more and purchased this one tp replace %26 upgrade.  I'm sure the printer is high quality because I've never had a problem with Brother products.  Unfortunately this one is the exception to the rule.  Setup instructions take you down false trails and lead to the message "an unexpected error has occurred."  Then you start over.  If you follow the instructions, you have to press the scroll key 15 to 45 times per character to enter the password for wifi when Press To Setup (PTS) is available.  I had to start over when the password was incorrect.  Installing the drivers fails if you follow directions, I still haven't figured out how to get past that one.  It's like having a Rolls Royce sitting in your driveway, and no way to even open the door.  I do NOT recommend this printer.

Beautiful machine to look at.

I did substantial research prior to buying this machine.  Everything looked really good from documentation and reviews.  Upon receipt and setup, I was very impressed, and it performed wonderful for simple prints and scans.  My friend asked me how it did with envelopes, but I made the serious mistake of assuming it would do great, so I didn't test that for a couple of days.  Upon testing envelope printing, I found that this machine is incapable of handling standard #10 business envelopes with ease.  Each print was severely wrinkled and on a couple of occasions, it printed the addresses crooked.  Wow, what is wrong with this machine?  A dud?  I did further research, and was utterly astonished.  Brother expects users to open the back panel (no big deal) and then shove down two SMALL, highly-tensioned "green levers" in order to print a simple envelope!  This is a joke, right?  In order to go back to normal printing, you have to reverse the process, flipping up the green levers.  This is totally unsuitable for most businesses that don't have time for such stupidity, and, in the case of some users who have arthritis in the hands, it simply will not work for them.

I returned this clown world engineering product and bought a Canon MF465dw.  You should, too.  Prints perfectly, every time, and no green levers!  You put in the standard envelope in the bypass tray, push print, and it pops out perfect, no wrinkling, no distortion, no hassle.

I was excited to receive this machine, and it prints and scans well...until you try to print a standard business envelope!  It simply will NOT print a standard business envelope without severe wrinkling and, occasionally, distortion of the print image.  Returning it to Walmart.
