You add room temperature water (instructions say hot water might damage the plastic) to the pan and add a drop of dish soap... then it shakes the living heck out of your jewelry. That's it. That's all it does. Cheaper to just put hot water in a cup with dish soap and gently swirl your jewelry. 

And to make this jewelry "cleaner" even more worthless, the lid got stuck on the pan. So then the entire pan pulled out of the machine with the lid stuck on and my jewelry and the cleaning water stuck inside.  Took about an hour and a flat head to get my jewelry back.

Don't waste your money. Or time.
