I got this tomato as a started plant.  It was great to have a good sturdy plant to plant in my garden.  Have always really liked the Big Boy tomato but they are harder to find than other varieties.  These plants have always been good, smooth and meaty producers for slicing.

I normally grow heirloom tomatoes but the Big Boy is now in my favorites list. I'll be growing this tomato for years to come.

Great tomato

These are growing exceptionally well for me with little effort. I probably put them too close together, but it doesn't seem to be bothering them. They're not ripe yet so I don't know how they taste, but they're big. The fruit is heavy so I'm glad I put them in a cage that can handle the weight.  I will get these again next year.

Great. Needs a strong support

I have been eating and or growing this tomato for at least sixty years.  When I think of summertime food, the Big Boy tomato sandwich is top of the list.  I don't believe I ever planted a tomato patch without these tomato plants.  To me it is a must have when making my list of what varieties to plant every year.  I plant hybrids and Heirlooms in my garden and do like all of them.  But year after year the Big Boy has been the old reliable, and has never failed for me.   For me the Big Boy is a large tasty multi-purpose tomato.  Thanks Burpee.

As American as apple pie.

I'm 58 and when I was a young girl my father grew these in our garden. He planted them every year they were his favorite to grow.  I received one plant in my order this season and I planted them for the first time.  They grew easily and we have a bounty of delicious tomatoes just like I remember.  Our garden is in raised beds and this tomato plant grew well there.  I am in zone 6.  I recommend this tomato variety wholeheartedly.   Thank you Burpee.

I grew up in east texas where my dad gardened. this was his go to tomato. he never grew anything else. and although I try new strains I always have plenty of these planted. they are excellent tomatoes in taste, texture, everything!!! I would recommend these, always, and do! I'm 57 and have been familiar with and eaten these tomatoes for over 50 years and still have not found a better overall tomato :)

excellent tomatoes!!!

First year raising this tomato and it's blown me away. Great vigor, exceptional flavor and loads of fruit. It also is extremely versatile in the kitchen going from salads, to sandwiches, to pasta sauce, to casseroles with ease. I garden in a community garden and I had several fellow gardeners comment on the productivity of the plants. Of course I had plenty to share with them to their delight.

I LOVE THIS TOMATO!

Plants all got 8-10 feet tall. Heavy yielder, around 50 tomatoes per plant so far in mid August. Very symmetrical round red fruits. Above average taste. Small tomatoes, not "big boys" by any stretch. All are 2.5 to 3.5 inches. If you want a lot of identical small/medium tomatoes, and have room for large plants, you may want to consider these.

Big boy = big plants, not big tomatoes

We planted 6 plants back in May and they're already about 5 feet tall. I would have trimmed them back but all of the buds are at the very top!  I've never had tomato plants do this before. I trimmed the bottom branches earlier on thinking it would grow fuller. What did I do wrong?

Jack and the beanstalk

Across the board I have, for the first time with Burpee, had a horrible growth occur from seeds. About half of what I planted did NOT germinate.  It's been across the the board. No show lettuce, oregano, beans and even live plants arriving nearly dead. Not good folks.
