[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I owned one of these in the 1970s, Bushnell brand, US made and lost it in a move - This new model is of the same quality, or higher compared the the 70s version.  Gets you "on the paper" for your first shot.  A great value, highly recommend ! ! !

Makes getting ready for hunting

Have had one of these for several years. Works great. It WILL get a round on your target at 100 yds. Then you can do your own final adjustments on your scope. Well made and durable.  Have used the laser boresighters, but in my opinion they are hard to see and is the reason I now only use this boresighter exclusively.

Great product, well worth it, durable, time-saver

This is the compact version of some other bore sighters on the market. One type has an arbor for up to 12 ga shotgun. This set only goes to a .410 shotgun, or some other gun up to .45 caliber. No problem, I have 2 of the larger sets, and luckily the older one HAS the shotgun arbor. I now have a full set for every gun I have. All Bushnell arbors are adjustable except the .177 cal arbor, which I can use on my .177 air guns. I like the shotgun arbor, so I added it to the Bushnell set, so now my new Bushnell bore sighter wins hands down.

These are not going to anchor your point of zero. The bore sighters are for getting close only. Getting the POI on paper so one can see where the shot is going is the first step to targeting and zeroing your guns. It takes a trip to a range to shoot and adjust the scope or sights to the final zero so expect to have to do some shooting. But thanks to bore sighters like this you&#x27;ll do a lot less targeting and a lot more bullseye shooting. All it takes is a little time at home and a little time on the range. And the range, then out in the field is where the real fun begins. Enjoy.

Quality Item

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Understanding that this device is not intended to zero a rifle, but to get you on paper, it kinda works. The graph is off-center, and way to the right, I compared it with another graph, it's not even close to being centered. I mainly bought it for the expanding mandrel, which does work really well.

Getting on paper…

I have the Simmons Model 1480 version of this instrument. The Bushnell arbors seem like they tighten in the bore, which would be good.
The big problem with this design is that it is too low. Maybe it works with an ordinary hunting rifle with a small diameter scope and low rings, but anything else with any higher scope centerline means the instrument is too low to see the calibration screen. The scope will look over the top. I&#x27;ve had this instrument for 15 years and never found a rifle/scope that it will align with. I wish Bushnell or Simmons would make an adjustable riser that fits on the arbors. I&#x27;ll probably get the Real Avid solution soon.
