We've had this for a couple months now.  My son and daughter love it.  Bullets don't jam.  Magazine loads and unloads nicely.  Very happy with purchase.

Doesn't jam

This summer I had picked up a used, earlier version of the Buzz Bee Range Master, a single-shot cousin to the Ultra-Tek Snipe. It was pretty cool in some ways, but the chief downer was the need to pump the bolt eight to ten times for each shot, followed by the disappointing distance of the actual dart flight. The huge, unmagnified "scope" atop the blaster kind of made things ironic and therefore even worse.

So I wondered if there happened to be a magazine-fed, spring-powered (i.e. one pump per shot) blaster to which I could upgrade. Lo and behold, I found the Snipe on a Wal-Mart shelf! At that low price, I found it hard to resist and my curiosity took over. I did already have a number of similar products from the main competitor N*rf, so I was familiar with their "bolt-actions" and their bright colours. In comparison, the Ultra-Tek Snipe is kind of garish in appearance, but once I loaded up the magazine and cycled the bolt, none of that mattered. The priming had a nice, solid feel to it, as did the trigger pull, yet not so heavy that my eight-year-old son couldn't manage it.

I should mention at this point that this product is actually cross-compatible with N*rf Elite darts and most magazines, which makes things very interesting both on the playing field and in the overall toy industry. The one proviso is N*rf's drum magazines, which will not fit without modification because the tops of the 18- and 35-dart drums will intrude on the left lower lip of the magazine well. I didn't have a handy dremel tool with which to cut into the plastic body, but I am quite confident that 1-2 cm would suffice and not compromise structure or operation significantly. Of course, I DON'T recommend that the target demographic of preteen children start whipping out their parents' power tools and voiding warranties by performing wanton surgery on their plastic playthings!

Using the Snipe I launched ten of the bundled, dark-grey Buzz Bee darts, followed by twelve dark-blue Elite darts. The colours made both kinds of darts hard to find in the thick, unkempt grass of my lawn. According to measuring tape, the former salvo reached around 45-50 feet in a two-foot grouping, while the latter salvo reached up to 65 feet in a six-foot grouping. This matches some Web reports which state that the Buzz Bee ammo flies shorter but straighter, while Nerf darts fly farther and wider. Also, it was somewhat disconcerting to note that this blaster seemed to fire quite low compared to the angle of the barrel. I had to aim higher in order to fire what I considered a "level" shot.

All in all, I was not disappointed with this product. Actually, my son and I both find the Ultra-Tek Snipe quite enjoyable and a worthy addition to our arsenal of foam dart blasters. The rate of fire might make it somewhat less practical in a frenzied humans-vs-zombie battle, but for casual plinking it's plenty of fun. I have a feeling it won't be long before we pick up an even cheaper Buzz Bee Sentinel...

Actually quite enjoyable!

This gun is very fun, it has great performance (better then nerf brand), accurate.
Unfortunately the bolt snapped of twice. The first time it broke, it happened after the second day after about 150 times witch is not that much. After that I waited a few months before I got it again.
The second time it lasted about three months and was fired many more times it was not until just a few days ago that the bolt snapped .
The snipe was an amazing blaster and very fun but it is made with cheap plastic witch is a huge shame.

ultra tech snipe

I bought mine a while ago and it wasn't working.   I had to disassemble it to reattach a spring,  my problem is i had to break the from retainer to do so.  However once firing it shoots really hard.  Great cheap gun if your new or just looking for something cool.
