I am surprised that no one noticed how Calmat changes normal water properties that affects cooking grain type vegetables such as lentils, chickpea, etc. I cooked them hours and still wasn't soft enough and I had to throw them out. I hope manufacturer give me a solution for that.

I bought this about a month ago with the assumption that I would not need to instal a normal water softener.  This unit does soften the water, kind of.  The hard water spots are still on the dishes after washing in the dishwasher, but most of the time it wipes off fairly easily.  Sometimes it takes a bit of scrubbing with a towel to get it off.  I can't say I have noticed a difference in the shower. I am going to return this product and put in a normal water softener so I don't have to "wash" (with a dry dish towel) my dishes after they come out of the dishwasher.  I know what softened water feels like in the shower and this unit does not do that in my opinion. K

Does what it says but.....

This piece of junk doesn't do what it says. The only way to get rid of scale and rust is to buy a whole home water salt softener and filtration system. There's no other way around it.
