Got the camera and a couple of lenses, lot's to learn after years of just using simple cameras and IPhones.  Time will tell if I can get the wildlife photos that I purchased the camera for.  So far the camera and lenses are living up to expectations.

New Camera Working Great

Great upgrade with bumps up in all aspects for me and my kit. Wanted to stay crop sensor but he upticks in ibis, buffer, dual memory cards, size of the body we all excellent upgrades. Very satisfied so far

Great upgrade while staying APSc

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Canon EOS R7 is a great all around camera, especially if you are making the move from APS-C SLR to mirrorless.  I've used an 80D for several years shooting sports, theatre performances, events, portraits, landscape and wildlife.  It does fine in low light if paired with a f-2.8 lens. The 1.6x crop gave me the reach I wanted to capture that play across the field, and great for micros.  The high pixel count image size from the R7 allows for cropping and still keep significant image details.  The grip is a little thick for me because I have small hands. The back wheel is located near the top, which might be a more 'natural' feel for some people; it's a little for me to get used to since all my previous %23%23D series cameras had the back wheel closer to the bottom.

My new R7 is paired with a RF 100-500mm lens. I have had much improved sucess with the R7 coming from an EOS R6 and 6D Mark II. Focusing difficulties have gradually begun dissapearing for me, given I am a rank beginner and totally an amateur. I configured back button focus and animal eye focus to improve my chances with birds in flight.  Unless you don't mind the price on the better full frame cousins, the R7 is more than enough for hobby photographers. I fully support the excellent reviews it has gotten.

Superb camera for birds at a fair price

Great so far.  Awesome autofocus and drive speed.  My only wishes would be for the traditional LCD info on the top of the body.  As I don't shoot much video, I would prefer not having the video selection on the power switch as I find I flip it to video many times.  Only other thing would be the possibility of a battery grip for portrait shots.  Battery doesn't seem to be an issue, but the larger grip and side shutter would be helpful for portraits.  Overall very pleased with the performance.

R7 Thoughts

I was looking for another camera body to supplement my R5.  The R7 fit the bill.  I shoot a lot of airshows and I like the extra reach the crop gives me.  With the testing I've done so far, the sensor appears to be extremely good. I looked at the R8 as a second body, but I didn't want to add a different set of batteries to my kit.  A minor annoyance, I realize, but the R7 uses the same battery as my R5 and 5DMK3.  One less thing to worry about.  The camera is very fast and lightweight.   I'm looking forward to Airshow Season.

Great camera, light weight, fast!

I moved from an EOS 80D to the EOS R7. At first it was a bit difficult because of the  difference in the control layout. As time goes on I have become more accustomed to the new layout and becoming more proficient in obtaining the outcomes I am seeking. Save for the control orientation, the camera performs beyond my expectations. Quick focus, even with the adapter and my EF lenses. I look forward to becoming more competent with the camera taking many more pictures. Very pleased with my purchase.

Canon EOS 80D to Canon EOS R7 a worthwhile upgrade

Simply amazing auto focus. Idea of IBIS with older non-is 600F4 not tested but intriguing. Relatively low noise for apsc sensor. You'll get use to the non optical view finder, be sure to configure for highest refresh rate for EVF. Very significant upgrade to 7Dmkii. Uses same battery too. Don't think the RF lenses are worth it for the slight weight savings and  EF can still be used on older DSLR bodies. Wish it had a compatible battery grip, only short coming I can see. Carried my old 7Dii as a back up last shoot and never took it out of the bag.

Replaced my 7Dmkii

I am truly enjoying this new camera. Previously owned a DSLR. I am still getting used to the settings but I believe that I will enjoy this for quite some time!

Great Camera

Bought this camera to transition into mirrorless for my wildlife photography, and wasn't ready to spend money for full frame R5. As a long time 5D IV and 1D IV shooter I have struggled to adapt to the R7's compact size and layout of the dials for exposure settings, and back button focusing. This camera just isn't comfortable in my hand (yet).

I have also had some focus hunting issues when using the adapter for non RF lenses.

Hoping I find the perfect niche for this R7 body and the lens match that will settle my ‘first impressions' frustration.
