Ease Of Use

Great lens. I wasn't sure if it would be worth upgrading my Sigma Telephoto lens, but I am so glad that I did. The Sigma 60-600mm lens is heavy, slower and not very user friendly. I did not use the Sigma much.
This Canon RF100-500mm lens has quickly become one of my favorite lenses.

Happy Shooting. Well worth upgrading from the Sigma 60-600 sports lens

canon.com

I have not had the opportunity to use it much yet, but what I have I'm liking. I have the RF 100-400 and this is better focus and reach. I also am liking how they switched how to keep the zoom in place/closed instead of a switch. I have a number of photographer friends who have this lens and they highly recommended it so I'm sure I won't be disappointed.

I'm Liking it!

I bought this and an EOS R7 to upgrade my 70-300mm EF on a 40D. This RF combo is AMAZING. I use it exclusively at my daughter's softball games, and the quality of photos is jaw-dropping.

Amazing Glass

This is a great lens! I am using it on an R6 and it works flawlessly. The focus is very fast and accurate, and the zoom range is ideal. As with any RF L lens, the image quality is fantastic. The size and weight are good for handheld use. I have used it for taking pictures of dog agility training, and the dog running around outside. I also used it for whale watching and got some fantastic shots that don't need to be cropped.

Awesome lens!

Canon 100-500 is an incredible lens I recently added. The additional reach I get beyond my 300 prime lens is superb. In a twist I can back off to 100 for a wider shot. The fact that this powerful of a lens can weigh so little allows handheld shooting vs a monopod with the 300. Price is not an issue when comparing to the benefits with this lens! Thank you Canon for creating this one!!

Great addition to my bag

I'm greatly impressed with the clarity of this lens. The details in catching fine hair at a long distance has been incredible. The lens is on the heavy side and may be a bit difficult for some to keep steady without a tripod. Overall, this was the lens with the missing focal length I needed.

Great lens, incredible clarity.

fast auto focus even out at 500 mil, clear sharp images. Small compared to other telephoto lenses but it has some weight to it and feels like a very well constructed lens. Need to spend some more time with it and really put it through its paces but have been very happy with the images created so far.

great lens for wild life/birds and sports.

I had to wait several months for this lens, but it is undoubtedly the best lens I have ever owned. Since getting into bird photography during the pandemic this is rarely off my camera. I also routinely use it with both the 1.4 and 2x extenders with great results.

Wonderful lens

Great optics, nice range and relatively light weight.

Highly recommended!

Very nice glass. Focus was sharp and crisp at all ranges so far. I was shooting with Canon R and the only complaint I have is focusing seemed a little slow or sluggish. Waiting on new R5 and hopefully it will be better. I am used to 5D Mark IV and L series lenses. So we will see. New to mirrorless and this is only complaint.

Nice Glass

I am a bird photographer and really looked forward to using this lens. It seemed to check all the boxes. In the field it worked great -- (though at times getting the autofocus to pick up on birds in flight with a solid cloud cover sky was a challenge, but this is probably my user error in part). Overall, I was really happy with it -- UNTIL the lens filled with moisture. I live in the Pacific Northwest so being able to shoot in light rain is a must -- I had the lens covered the entire time with a lens/camera body cover AND the lens is supposed to be weather sealed -- yet moisture got in and the lens failed. Now I am without a lens for however long it takes for Canon to check out the issue -- and regretting my decision to lay out a giant pile of cash for a lens I only was able to use for two months. Really disappointing.

Great -- for 2 months.
