Printed one photo then could not print anymore! Returning.

Brand new. Got two prints out of it before it started jamming then saying wrong paper size then saying out of ink. Apparently if you try to print something and it doesn't work, it still uses the cartridge. Instruction manual isn't helpful. Also what's the point of a usb input if it won't print from usb?
