This expansion is amazing! Just keep in mind this is not a standalone game you NEED the Catan base game!

This is my favorite game of all time, it makes Catan into the best version it can!

Cities and Knights sets up a different level of complexity to the standard Catan game. It won't suit all players, but it will make it more interesting for those who think the basic game is too simple. It changes focus from the board to the cards/commodities, as there is less need for expansion on the board with the city developments. Hint: Use the recommended rule of waiting to use the Special Die until after 2 rounds, and the robber until after the first Barbarian attack. You will need this extra time to build enough so that the game takes less than 2 hours.

Buy it if you want to spend an extra hour playing.

This product felt was lower quality than the original game.  One of the plastic pieces had a big defect to it, the instructions were ripped, and the box itself had a lower quality feel to it.

I was disappointed to see that this is a knockoff version. Do not buy this product. It can be tempting while production of the legitimate game is being delayed, but I don't think it's worth it. The commodity cards are printed differently and of different size than the resource cards in the base game. This makes them easy to differentiate when stealing cards from other players. The box is more cheaply made. The city upgrade pads were cheaply manufactured, making them near-impossible not to tear when dividing them at first opening. The die is poorly manufactured. The merchant is not the same as the official chip (looks more like a chess pawn instead of a cone). One of the red city walls is missing. Instead of being made of wood like the official version, all the pieces are made of plastic.

Knockoff version. Do not buy

This is a counterfeit item.  Everything is cheaply made from the thin cardboard box, different sized resource and commodity cards, flimsy flip cards, plastic pieces (which were not complete) and a folded plastic die.  Horrible and extremely disappointed.

Knock-off product

Picked it up at a Walmart (the whole experience was weird as in I had to go to the back of the store warehouse area to ask for it). Once I got home I opened the package and immediately felt like the box was oddly thin. The moment I opened the box I noticed that the pieces were made out of very cheap plastic. Turns out it's a fake. I was able to return the board game but the sentiment remains and I don't see myself ordering from Walmart's online store anytime soon. I wasted hours dealing with this.

DO NOT BUY THIS, IT IS FAKE! The real game comes with wood pieces, this one came with plastic. The box, books and other parts are all slightly off to.
