I have previously purchased several pairs of Keens as a rough-and-tumble summer Sandler option for my 3 year old, however this year, I decided to try this Chaco sandal. As stated in other reviews, it is difficult to get on when your kid's feet are sweaty but not so difficult that it was a deal breaker for me. I think that these shoes are exactly what I was looking for: water friendly, sturdy, closed toe. I sizes up one size and have been very happy!

Perfect Summer Shoe

I am an adult with small feet, so can wear some kids shoes. I wear a size 4 in kids Chacos, but ordered a size 5 in these since I would wear socks with them.  They fit perfectly, and are comfortable.  The only thing I was disappointed in was that they do not have the same footbed as the original Chaco sandals, which I was hoping for.  I still gave them a 5 star review because they are great little shoes!

Great shoes!

I do agree with the previous reviewer that these shoes are a bit tricky to get on, but only at first. My seven year old son loved them, however, so he persevered and we figured out that he can do them most easily if he pulls on both pull tabs. Now after almost a week of daily wear, either the shoes have stretched a bit or his strategy is perfected because he never has trouble getting them on. These will be a great shoe for the summer!! He doesn't like the sandals as much for hiking and I'm a minimalist when packing for camping trips, so these will be equally happy on the trail and in the water. Thanks, Chaco! We like them so much that we already have more en route for my older sons.

Great shoe!

I have consistently been a women's size 8 in Chaco's since I bought my very first pair in 1994.  That is, until they started screwing up the sizing about 5ish? years ago...

Last year, on a whim, I tried a pair of kids size 6 sandals.  Perfect fit!  Like the original sizing I was used to for the first 20 years of Chaco love!  

Bummer that Big Kid styles are minimal, but I can't complain about paying 1/2 as much for shoes that actually fit better :)

Awesome score for my size 8 feet!

I wanted to live them, but not enough arch support for me. As a small adult,  I like to purchase kids shoes when I can, they were a good price…. Except when they aren't comfortable. I have foot issues and these just didn't work. Had to pay shipping both ways, so I probably won't return them. They would probably work fine for someone without problem feet.

Kids Odessey

The quality and fit of the shoe is great, but for a kids shoe, they are way too difficult to put on their feet, especially when wet. Makes it impractical with little ones and we had to buy a different, similar shoe in another brand.

I wanted to love these so much. They're adorable and they're Chacos, so of course the quality is top-notch. The challenges we had:
1. My almost 6 year old reallllly struggles to get these on. They are NOT quick and easy. I have never bribed my kid with candy ever until I tried to get him to put on these shoes by himself. Even after a few months, we still struggle
2. They. Stink. So. Much. He has to wear socks with them, which is never ideal in the summer. Even then after awhile we are either ozonating them or dousing them with hand sanitizer (because throwing them in the wash just doesn't cut it)

Overall, I do not recommend until Chaco updates the design somehow to combat these two things. It ended up being a really unfortunate purchase for us.

Stinky and hard to get on

Strap attachment threads came apart the first time my 5yo wore them. Otherwise they would have been great.

QA Issues

They are super narrow… not sure how they fit onto any kids foot! I bought two pair, and can't return them as I moved overseas right away. Super disappointed in the purchase. I've always loved Chacao products… but these ones really disappoint.

Super narrow Odyssey kids shoes

Initially I loved these shoes.  I got a pair for each of my two kids, in navy and in black.  The shoes were very comfortable from the start, and attractive.  I loved how they could hike, rock climb and walk through creeks and remain comfortable.  They did smell bad after a couple of hikes where my kids walked through creeks, but washing the soles with baking soda and water fixed that problem.  Unfortunately, the black pair dyed my son's feet gray a week ago and I still can't wash the dye off his feet!  I will contact Chaco's to request a return.  Shoes this expensive should not be causing that problem.
