The frame and lid, made of steel, undergo several chrome plating processes to obtain a durable shiny surface that will last for many years of intense use. The only difference in the production process since the fifties is our commitment to the highest standards of environmentally correct manufacturing, which is especially important during the chrome plating process. The black CHAMBORD® Polypropylene handle comes in a matte finish that not only gives a comfortable grip while serving but adds to the classic quality of the design. The French Press system has always been the simplest and ultimate way of brewing an excellent cup of coffee. Using fresh coarse ground beans with water between 197 and 204ºF (Just below a boil) brings out the very best in all types of coffee.

Really Nice looking French press. I highly recommend it just feels a little bit chincy, but it makes a great cup of coffee.

I bought this Bodum French Press because my fancy and expensive K-cup coffee maker died and it's replacement wouldn't arrive for 3 weeks. I had to have coffee but didn't want to spend much on a temporary machine so I chose this inexpensive Bodum. About a month later and the expensive model arrived and still sitting in the unopened box. I'm still using this Bodum! The coffee made with this press is smooth, not bitter, and no matter how strong I make it, it's still smooth and delicious! Don't waste your money on another electric coffee maker... this is a coffee lovers dream!!!

Better than K-cups!

This is my second Bodum coffee press.  For me, this is the only way to make coffee.

Best and the original French coffee press

I love that it is all glass but I wish it had volume indications on it, like how many ml i'm making. Also, would have been great if the lid screwed on, it something doesn't stay on properly.

Like it but….

This is definitely an upgrade to the previous bodum press I had before.  This unit is mostly stainless steel. There are reports of rusting from those that put it through a dishwasher which I have never considered.  My previous press had a lot of plastic. The plastic press filter eventually broke after several years of use.  I don't expect that to happen to this one.  If it does break I will update my review

The frame, apparently made of stainless steel, started rusting after 1 use from residual water drops at the base and areas where the frame touches the glass carafe. This is my first bodum but read great things about it. Apparently this must be a more recent problem since I noticed customer reviews of dissatisfaction due to rusting on other websites also.
