When I did the calibration, the pin hole in the bottom of a cup didn't work too well. Put a small screen in the sink to level it and let the faucet just drip into it. But then, what ran through it stayed on the gauge reading. So I have to subtract that from complete total. Would buy again. Love it.

A great rain gauge.

I bought this to replace an earlier version that broke due to a strong wind blowing the transmitter off a second floor balcony and my not being able to find all the parts on the ground. The previous version lasted 4.5 years and was still working prior to the fall from the balcony. This new version is better constructed and has a calibration process and 2 adjusting screws, although I found it hard to turn the screws. Perhaps the adjustments had already been made and the screws were "locked". After performing the calibration process, it appeared that minimal adjustment was necessary. The new one tracks rainfall for today, yesterday, this week, this month, and this year. One nice surprise is that I can use the old receiver as well as the new receiver, so I get readouts in two different places. You just have to make sure the "ABC" switch in the battery compartments match.

Great improvements

I haven't had this item very long, so unable to comment for long time usage. As of now, it works great. Especially like not having to go out and empty the water out of it. Nothing to do with the item itself, but my fence leans a little, so trying to get the unit as close to level as possible, took a little bit to complete. If there was a base that can be raised if needed to help level it out a lot better, I would be interested it that also

Excellent product

I like the way it works. very nice and easy.

You  don't have to empty it.

Easy to set up, accurate.  Can be hard to read in low light.

Would buy again.

Placed this unit adjacent to a static NOAA rain gauge to test accuracy with the following results:  The Acurite readings varied between  16% (greater than NOAA) to -4% (lesser than NOAA) with a mean of  6%,  close enough for most non-proffesional use.

Accuracy test

Had buy the complete set when I just needed to replace the collector as base station works just fine. Seems like you can get replacement parts for almost every thing but not this collector. Seems pretty bad to me.

Probably not

The unit works well but this is the 3rd gauge I had to purchase from you company. The exterior unit always fails to stop sending out a signal after a few years. I guess this is your plan obsolesce.

The base does not work, it is synced okay but no read out. fortunately I had the old base and it does now work with the outside gauge.
