I'd never read anything by Lisa Harris until I read her 2020 novel, The Escape, which was the first in her US Marshals series.  It was great and I started looking forward to the next book in the series.  And let me tell you, my wait was more than well worth it.  I was absolutely captivated by this story.  The Chase is quite aptly titled, too, by the way.  The two main protagonists are in a highly intenseful chase for fugitives who always seem to be one step ahead of them.  Jonas Quinn and Madison James are partners in the US Marshals service and are incredibly good at their jobs.  This time they are up against some bad guys who have every contingency all planned out, though, so they must find a way to up their game in order to capture these folks and stop the madness.  I was so intrigued all the way by not only the writer's skill at creating such a great story, but at how these two law enforcement officers went about their jobs, deciphering clues and chasing off on the next lead.  It was so interesting!

At the same time that Jonas and Madison are chasing after these fugitives, Madison still hasn't solved a cold case from five years ago and one other devastating event.  There is a spiritual thread here, a good, one, a smatter of romance, but the suspense is the king of this show!  Hands down.  It is high-octane suspense throughout! I could not stop reading, and I had chores to do.  I couldn't wait to get back to the  book when life interrupted.  And there is another book in the series!  

Harris has created two main characters that nearly leap off the pages and who fit their roles so well that it's like watching a good crime drama.  Goodness, it's even way better than a tv show!  Honestly, this one is for the keeper shelf and to get read again.  Well done!

High Intensity Suspense

This is the second book in this series that I have read and enjoyed, but we are still left with unanswered questions, and thankfully there is another book coming!

As this book opens and we begin our journey, US Marshall Madison James, is finally going back to work, she had been shot 3 months ago, by an unknown assailant! Her partner and also a US Marshall Jonas Quinn has been visiting and forming and stronger alliance with Madison, but is she ready to move on after the murder of her husband Luke?

With this new book, we are literally off on a "Chase" and this one takes them off running, and we see how the past does meet the present. With the suspects splitting up, will they be able to get away, or will justice be survived?

This is one fast paced read, with never a dull movement, and I would be happy to start the new book right now!

Past Meets Present

Are you looking for a thrilling suspense novel with sweet romance and strong human alliances? Do you appreciate a faith message woven into the storyline? ? This, then, is the book for you! Author Lisa Harris has written a story with everything needed for a good suspense novel: non-stop action, questions needing to be answered, clues that are sometimes misleading, and intense danger. There's also a chance to dig deeper into the thoughts and motives of the two main characters. Harris reveals their strengths and weaknesses, she offers a glimpse of their deepening feelings for each other, and she allows their faith and beliefs to be a part of the plot. I first met Madison and Jonas in The Escape, and I'm so glad that I could witness their personal relationship develop in this book.

Exciting Romantic Suspense!

Run the race that the Good Lord set out for you to run

In this second book of the series, U S Marshal partners, Madison and Jonas are on the trail of four fugitives from a bank robbery gone wrong. What a way to start the first day back from an injury for Madison James. 
The culprits manage to keep one step ahead of the Marshals in a desperate cat and mouse game and nail biting chase. 
The author gives us another glimpse into the relationship between Madison and Jonas that started in The Escape. They are their for each other every step of the way. But could this turn into something more? 
The excitement ramps up as they figure out where the fugitives are, but they are not sure all the clues are related to the present case. Could someone still be after Madison as she tries to uncover clues to her husbands murder five years ago? 
As one story concludes, we will have to wait for other answers to be revealed in the third book of the series. 
Well plotted and thrilling, this book is a great story to get absorbed in.

Cat and mouse nail biter

After being off work recovering from a gun shot wound, US Marshal Madison James returns to jump right into a current bank robbery.  It is a hostage situation, and someone has been critically shot.  With very little to go on, Madison and partner Jonas, are determined to stop it.  
With some sly tricks, the bad guys slip out of the bank, but Madison and Jonas are on their tail.  The two are a formidable team, and have become even closer since her shooting.  Jonas came by frequently, and he began a standard Friday night drop by.   
Madison has amnesia about who shot her, but is convinced it is connected with the unsolved murder of her husband, Luke, five years earlier.  Since then, she has spent all her time trying to solve it.
As the man hunt for the robbers continues to broaden out, Madison and Jonas work together to bring them to justice.  The two go from one treacherous situation to another, always just missing catching them.
Will Madison and Jonas get the robbers before they escape to another country?  Can Madison come to terms with the fact that Luke's murder might never be solved?
This is the second installment in the US Marshall's Series, but this tale stands on its own. At the end of the book, there is a surprising twist concerning Luke's murder.  Told from a Christian viewpoint, this is a clean story.  This fast-paced five-star book will keep you turning the pages, and will be enjoyed by lovers of thrillers and modern-day adventures.

Hurting People for Kicks!

US Marshal Madison James has recovered from being shot and is ready to rejoin forces with her partner, Jonas Quinn when a series of bank robberies throws her first day into chaos.

As Madison and Jonas work through leads taking them to suspects, more and more dangerous and deadly events occur. And as the suspects always seem to be one step ahead of them, they must work to end the crimes all while fighting their ever growing feelings for each other, as well as Madison struggling to solve who shot her months ago and killed her husband five years ago.

Harris delivers another incredible suspense-thriller, as she brilliantly creates a frenetic plot filled with likable and relatable characters. She also includes several great themes in The Chase, like the danger of assumptions; the impact of blame; playing the what-if game; dealing with dead ends; surrendering and the struggle to do so; avoiding risk (People always do tend to stay where they feel safe. Just dont get too comfortable. Take a risk or two); and God heals the brokenhearted.

She leaves the ending unsolved, so Im looking forward to the next installment to see how Madisons and Jonas story ends.

Fans of authors like Irene Hannon, Lynette Eason and Terri Blackstock will enjoy The Chase.

Action-Packed

The Chase is a fast paced, intense clean romantic suspense. Lisa Harris has done an excellent job of blending suspense with the perfect amount of faith and romance. Madison and Jonas are very real and relatable. They have a lot of work to do hunting down bank robbers while dealing with their own private struggles. There are unexpected twists that help keep the readers attention. This is a a book that is hard to put down! I highly recommend this book!

Intense

The Chase by Lisa Harris is the second book in the US Marshals series. It picks up three months later from where the first book, The Escape, ended. This time Madison James and Jonas Quinn are chasing bank robbers who also happen to be thrill-seekers. It's a bad combination. There's action and suspense in this installment, and a great deal more character development. I wasn't invested in the characters at the end of the first book, but they definitely grew on me as they worked together to solve the crime in The Chase. There's just a hint of romance in this series, so if you're not a big romance lover, but you love action, then this should suit you well. The main crime is resolved; however, there is the overarching crime that still needs resolution. But, we are given just a glimpse as to why Madison's husband was killed five years ago. The Chase has a nice faith element in it, and is a clean, entertaining read.

Action-packed and Entertaining
