heavy bout five pounds....ish - good thing because press does more work than arms, hinge could be lower - cannot flatten as well as rolling pin (I like paper thin), fast - can finish flattening next dough ball before I burn first tortilla, I used wax (one piece on top of the dough ball) paper seems to help dough flatten more. Huh, I'll try two pieces next time with dough ball sandwiched between the pieces. I ended up with kinda thin pita and kinda thick tortilla.

So, I spent my limited funds on this cast iron dough flattener because: 1. it's faster 2. heavy 3. simple to use 4. will last longer than me - yup gonna put it in my will to my niece 5. well made but affordable and finally 6. I don't get flour all over my kitchen

About other dough ball presses.....wood.....eh ....disposble gonna break....I hate disposble appliances, aluminum....gotta love pronouncing that.....too light unless you want a work out, more espensive presses......well it's your money. 

Finally, I did not get paid for this review so feel free to send something. Oh, anyone have lard without those chemicals and won't cost my monthy income send it - butter/shortening just not as tasty, Another oh: if your not messy like me, not in as much as a hurry - move faster with a rolling pin than me and won't burn your tortillas in-between rolling your dough balls then by all means save yer money. Love this Press

This is a great tortilla press. It pressed the dough evenly. I definitely recommend using parchment paper or wax paper to press the dough between. We experimented without parchment paper and, of course, the dough stuck to the press. This press is easy enough for an older child to help with and experiment in the kitchen.

It is a great quality and easy to use. Definitely worth the price.
