Sharpening

Great for cooks

Great sharpener. It's so easy to use and each stage from a coarse grind to the finer grind is very effective. I like the polishing stage as it removes any burs.  You can sharpen serrated edges too!

Counter-top Three-stage Knife Sharpener!

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] It does a good job of sharpening all my chef and kitchen knives. While it doesnt give a razor-sharp edge, it does give a good working edge for every day use.

A few of our friends were talking about their Chef's Choice 250 on how easy it was to operate and of the end results, so we had to see for ourselves.. We thought our knives were sharp enough all along, but passing them through the 250, after going by the instructions on how to get the sharpest edges, what a difference they are  now.. All of our knives including the electric knife with serrated edges: sharp, sharp, sharp.

Cuts Like a Knife

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Powered knife sharpeners vary in power, rpm, sharpening stones and the angle of blade guide.  This machine has the optimal design and power to get the job done that machines costing double or triple can't get done.  From sharpening a meat cleaver to pairing knives, this is the best choice.

Highly recommended

This product works quite well. I put it in the edge on my dull knives. Easy to follow instructions. My only concern for longevity is the motor tends to heat up, but in fairness, I was sharpening quite a few knives and it ran for a while. Going forward with the occasional use I don't think that's a problem.

Sharp knives again

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This is my first electric sharpener. I had high hopes after watching several reviews, but I'm a little disappointed that it doesn't do a better job of sharpening, which is its' only task. Some of the manual pull-through sharpeners I've used in the past gave a better edge. I have pretty good knives that are known to take a good edge, but  I've had to pull each side through Step One up to 20 times each side before getting the required burr ahead of moving to Step Two.  You're supposed to put no weight on the knife as you sharpen, but there's no directions whether to favor the left or right side of the slot or TRY to stay in the center, which is virtually impossible and leaves parts of the edge unsharpened. Holding the blade toward the side you're sharpening seems to work a little better. But after using it a few times I have yet to sharpen any of my knives well enough to easily cut paper.

Also, the motor gets quite hot, probably because it takes so many pulls to get adequate sharpness. I'm not talking about hand-hone on a stone sharpness, just adequate sharpness working with food cutting and chopping. I have to turn it off halfway through to let it cool because I'm afraid I'll fry the motor, which makes the housing very hot  to the touch.

It is quite a bit easier than using a stone, but not much easier than using manual pull-through sharpeners, which is why I'm recommending it. Those manual ones don't last long, but I'm a little concerned about the life of this sharpener with the overheating.
