This is a very high quality pan, it's very pretty to look at, but the performance is what matters, it's a large round griddle, I love it so much I all so purchased the nonstick version as well, you can use this pan for more then a griddle, I use it for alot of other types of cooking it's, becoming my everyday pan.

I wanted a round griddle that fit my 12" round glass top stove burner that would be warp resistant.   Cast iron was too heavy for my taste.  The round teflon griddles are so thin they don't maintain their shape if you make the slightest error in temperature when heating them up - they will warp.  The Maxam 12" Stainless Steel Griddle fit the bill.  Solid construction.  Heavier than a thin teflon pan but not so heavy as a cast iron.  I tempered it before first use.  The first time I made pancakes I did not oil it since it was tempered.  They came out very well - evenly cooked and colored.  They did not stick.  The glass lid is a bonus.  Don't need it for cakes, but then I made a meat dish with veggies on the griddle and needed to keep it warm before serving and the lid came in handy then.
