I purchased the Chefman Toaster mainly for 1 reason. The length of the toaster slots is 5 inches. Most of the basic toasters were only 4 inches. This allowed enough space for breads with a wide length. The defrost is a nice feature. The price is not much more than the basic standard toasters.

Nice features for an inexpensive toaster

It has a wide opening good for thick bread and number 3 for toastiness and color is good for me. Haven't used the defrost yet.

The bagel button is great it toasts the inside of the bagel and warms the outside. Does not burn the outside.

love it

It took 3 tries to get a new toaster I was happy with.  I would buy this toaster again.  It is easy to use and most importantly it browns the bread evenly.  I'd have given it 5 stars if the exterior was metal instead of plastic.  It is a good value at the $27.99 price I paid.

Great toaster for the price

The only thing you should know is if you use the shade selector,  1  is extremely light, 2 and 3 are both quite dark, haven't used anything above 3 because 3 %26 4 are pretty dark.

Nice toaster

It works but no better than the one I was replacing.  It's simple to operate and doesn't get hot on the outside which is nice. Problem is it doesn't toast the toast evenly. One end gets toasted but the opposite end isn't so you have to flip the toast around and toast again. I've tried changing settings etc. to no avail. Very disappointed.

Disappointing purchase

The specifications state the slot width is 1.5 inches and the slot size is 8 inches. These are both not true. It is only 1.25 inches wide so a bagel has to be pushed down as you slide the lever down. The slot is only 5.25 inches long so Oroweat bread also has to be pushed down so it can be toasted. It does toast okay if a bit longer than it should.

Slot size is not as advertised.

The toaster takes a long time to toast or cook bagels. It only browns one side of the bagel. It is very cheaply made using the minimum grade of metal. Will return.

At first it worked fine. I ran test toast on five setting , and it was fine. Gradually , it was burning my toast till I had to put it to a number two. Then last night I was making toast and started smelling wires burning, electrical smell. My toast was burning at number two , and wire smell is not a good thing. I have unplugged it in order , a new different brand toaster. I am handicapped , so taking it back to the store is not an option. I will just dispose of a brand new toaster. So incredibly disappointed. And now it's cost me more money. I hope this next one is a good brand. I ordered in Oster. I could possibly have them pick it back up , but my fear is that someone might put it back on the rack for sale , and this could start a fire.

Smelled toxic taking it out of the box. It also has the proposition warning on the printed material. Shame on them for making a toaster like this.  Returned this for a Dash toaster. Much better quality.

Avoid this one.
