ChimneySaver Paint â€œNâ€ Peel Fireplace Cleaner is a safe, effective way to clean your fireplace front. Your hearth professional has the proper tools and experience to apply the product correctly. The product is brushed on and then dries to a thick, rubbery, non-hazardous film in 24-48 hours. When completely dry, it is easily peeled away from the surface and discarded. Paint â€œNâ€ Peel Fireplace Cleaner saves you time and eliminates the hassle of cleaning your smoke/soot stained fireplace.  This product works on nearly all masonry surfaces including brick, stone, marble, slate, tile, concrete, mortar, limestone, and cultured stone.  Note: Always test for compatibility and desired results with your specific surface before proceeding with entire project. Apply product in a small inconspicuous "test" area, allow product to dry completely (24-48 hours minimum) before removing. Heavily soiled areas may require multiple applications.   Product must be completely dry before removing. Be sure to paint the product on heavy enough (1/8" - 3/16"). Ensuring an even application will help the product peel off easily and uniformly when dry.

The paint worked great!
I listened to the other reviews and put it on thick like icing a cake! It peeled off easily. I waited 48 hours. I needed one gallon for a standard 1950s fireplace box.

The coverage is toward the lower end, learned that too thin a layer is impossible to get off the stone, had to recoat. But otherwise did it's job

I have wanted to try this product for a long time.  The price has always held me back. With all that is going on in the world, I thought I would give it a try.  The coverage does not even come close to the estimates.  To get the thickness prescribed I had to use three gallons, not the one based on the coverage on the label.   So, I had to place a second order when I ran out delaying the project.  Once up to the proper thickness it was easier to remove and worked as expected.
