It arrived with the springs improperly installed.  Took a half-an-hour to fix - simple one.  So much for QC.   But once done works very well.  It's fun to watch the squirrels tossed off>

Perfect!  There are squirrels here that don't know why they've worn out their welcome, and didn't leave anything for the birds. My cat wakes me at sunrise too. She wants the blinds open so she can watch the birds, a pleasure for her.

Squirrel Proof!

I've been using this bird feeder (spring-loaded top opening) along with the plastic seed dispenser for almost a year. The feeder is very well built and easy to use, plus the squirrels are stymied in getting to the seeds. The plastic dispenser is a great accessory that makes the whole process of transfering the seed to the feeder extremely easy and effective. I would highly recommend these products to anyone who enjoys seeing a variety of birds, large and small, around their home.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This bird feeder is lots of fun to watch the birds on. They have been loving it! There's a lid at the top to fill it up with seed. I'm using wild bird seed and it works perfect with this feeder. There's multiple openings along the feeder for the birds to get the seed. If the weight is too heavy it will pull down the feeder and close the openings. I have seen squirrels try to get to it and couldn't.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I feed the birds 9 months out of the year. I also fight the squirrels that entire time. I wanted to add a new feeder in my back yard and this is going to be perfect. I can already tell. This feeder is sturdy and although the opening is going to require a funnel to fill, it's going to suit my needs perfectly.

This feeder has issues with the D shape inserts which limit seed from flowing out the holes. The inserts would benefit from a slots in the clear plastic that are 11 and 5 o'clock vs 12 and 6. Then they could be inserted and turned slightly to lock in place. As they exist now there is not enough contact area to retain then. Easily pop out and seed drains out. This is our second experience with this product failure as well as one with a double suet feeder. Functionality would be fine with more attention to design detail and heavy enough components.

Hole insert needs re-engineered

The concept is elegant. A simple redesign of the spring mechanism would bring the actual product to the same level. The springs are too heavy, meaning even large squirrels do not have enough weight to close the ports. You realize backyard birds are not heavy creatures, right? Hollow bones and all that? Reducing the spring tension by half would still allow a bird on every perch without activating the shutter. Instead of posting responses directing people to place their feeders elsewhere, try incorporating these real-world experiences into a simple redesign that would make this product reach it's awesome potential.
